Communications and Volunteer Manager

 

Curry Senior Center, a Tenderloin-based non-profit geriatric health and social services agency serving low-income adults, seeks an experienced Development professional to manage agency's fundraising efforts. Curry Senior Center is a unique public/private partnership with a 46 year history of providing health, case management, substance abuse treatment, meals, community services and supportive housing, to low income and homeless older adults living in the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods.

The Development Manager will report to the Director of Development and will work closely with Board-level Development Committee to manage and expand agency communications and the volunteer program. The Manager will be responsible for maintaining and creating marketing collateral and materials as well as increasing volunteer participation in Curry programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications - 40%

● Manage communications calendar

● Collaborate with Development Director and staff on all communications content

● Update and produce all print and digital communication materials

● Update Development dashboard monthly with social media, website and email metrics and statistics

● Update agency website weekly with program updates and data

 

Volunteer Management - 30%

● Lead agency staff in management of the organizations volunteer program

● Work with other agency partners to coordinate volunteer shifts, individuals and groups

● Promote ongoing volunteer opportunities to individuals and companies

● Manage multiple volunteer calendars on the website and shared with agency partners

● Attend community fairs to promote volunteer program

● Steward volunteer relationships using email and social media to acknowledge volunteering

● Ensure volunteers are entered and tracked in the organization’s database

 

Event Planning - 15%

● Manage Volunteer and Donor Appreciation Event

● Work with consultants, staff and event committee in the production of fundraising event communications and promotional materials

● Prospect and procure raffle donations for all fundraising event

● Staff event committee- set up meeting, prepare agenda and take meeting minutes

 

Fund Development - 15%

● Assist Development Director in implementing comprehensive fundraising strategy

 

 

● Assist Development Director maintaining positive relations with funders, sponsors, and volunteers

● Set-up and maintain in-kind donation program

 

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

● 2-3 years progressively responsible experience in Development and Communications in a non-profit environment

● Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of fundraising activities, including donor development, major gifts, annual gifts and special events

● Demonstrated experience working with nonprofit Boards, Staff and Volunteers

● Willingness and interest to work in the Civic Center/Tenderloin on behalf of low income older adults, including the homeless

● Strong interpersonal, listening, verbal, written communication and conflict resolution skills

● Highly motivated self-starter able to work independently as well as part of a team

● Excellent planning, organizational and facilitation skills

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

● Experience in working with Donor database(s) and willingness to learn new system

● BA/BS Degree

● Good sense of humor and ability to contribute to a pleasant working environment
