    About the Organization:

    Harm Reduction Sisters provides a feminist response, utilizing innovative harm reduction principles and practices to address the gaps that exist for people who use drugs and experience trauma. Based in Northern Minnesota we are a network of participants, volunteers, staff, and board members who believe in creating a more just future and increased linkages to care for people who use drugs. We are a team of diverse, interdisciplinary, and feminist harm reductionists. Through our work, we are committed to improving the health and well-being of individuals impacted by the harms related to drug use. We work to amplify the voices of People Who Use Drugs, reduce the spread of bloodborne diseases, prevent overdose deaths, and promote evidence-based drug supply, harm reduction services, and access to healthcare. Our organization operates in 12 counties across Northern Minnesota, including Pine, St. Louis, Lake, Carlton, Pennington, Itasca, Koochiching, Beltrami, Mille Lacs, Crow Wing, Cook, and Cass.

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Programs to work primarily in our Duluth office (with some time spent at our satellite offices and sites every month) to help expand the impact of our organization. The Director of Programs will be responsible for providing supervision of staff, overseeing program development and implementation, fostering collaborative relationships, and ensuring the organization's sustainability and growth. They will also collaborate closely with the Executive Director on aspects of organizational operation such as fiscal management, adherence to funding restrictions, and verification and approval of staff time and attendance.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise staff remotely and in person, provide effective leadership and mentorship to staff members, and promote a positive and inclusive work culture.
    • Recruit, train, and retain a skilled and motivated team. Oversee volunteer engagement and recognition activities.
    • Strategic Leadership: Alongside the Executive Director, develop and implement the organization's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, and values.
    • Provide visionary leadership and drive innovation in harm reduction programs and services.
    • Program Development and Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based harm reduction programs, services, and initiatives across the state. This includes leading the new mobile Stamina program which has a focus on access to telehealth and drug checking services.
    • Assure compliance with funding deliverables.
    • Continuously assess program effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.
    • Timely completion of grant and funder related reporting.
    • Partnering with diverse stakeholders to advocate for harm reduction practices, conduct outreach and education, and provide vital resources to communities in need.
    • Supporting the Executive Director with Fiscal and Organizational Operations, and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (master’s degree preferred). Relevant experience can replace a degree requirement with a minimum of 5 years working in harm reduction or adjacent social service fields.
    • Valid driver’s license for the state of Minnesota or Wisconsin
    • Demonstrated leadership experience in harm reduction, public health, or related fields.
    • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
    • Strong understanding of harm reduction principles, practices, and evidence-based approaches to public health.
    • Knowledge of public health, drug policy, and healthcare systems.
    • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and grant writing/reporting.
    • Commitment to social justice, equity, anti-racism, and harm reduction principles.

    Compensation and Employee Benefits:

    • The starting salary for this position is $63,000-65,000, commensurate with experience.
    • Benefits include 401k with 5% employer contribution (no employee contribution necessary); partial or full health insurance coverage; vacation, sick leave, and all federal holidays; and mental health days to maintain a work/life balance.
    • Relocation funds may be available.

    Terms of Employment:

    • 40 Hours a week primarily based at our Duluth and sometime each month at satellite offices. Occasional weekend hours may be required.
    • Some in-state travel may be required. Occasional Out-of-state travel may be necessary for relevant conferences etc.
    • 3-month Probationary Period, with a review at 2 months and one year.
