Code for America is looking for a talented Senior Manager of Employee Experience who will lead and strengthen the employee experience for our in office and distributed teams. This is an amazing opportunity to enhance our employee experience by designing how we will work moving forward and finding new creative ways to build on our people centered approach. This person will be part of the People and Office team and report to the Director of People with a dotted line to all staff members of Code for America.

About the Role: 

As the Senior Manager of Employee Experience you will focus on Code for America’s people and their experience. You will be responsible for leading office operations, people initiatives, projects and be involved with all things related to Code for America’s staff. As a key stakeholder you will be responsible for ensuring our growing and increasingly distributed (remote) team has a positive experience and feels supported. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes initiative, thinks outside of the box, who can lead and implement projects from beginning to end, and can manage competing priorities all while focusing on inclusivity.

In this position you will: 

Office & Experience 

  • Lead and implement the office reentry strategy/ project while ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and laws.  
  • Lead the employee experience for both in office and distributed team members 
  • Immerse and build upon our employee experience post-pandemic era
  • Build trust and connections with all employees
  • Enable inclusive events and meetings that balance the needs of distributed and in office staff
  • Use data and analytics to assess the employee experience programs and provide recommendations to improve
  • Oversee and maintain the office facilities and equipment including but not limited to building relationships with off facility management vendors, including landlord, cleaning and other office related partnerships 
  • Expected to be in the SF office 2-3 times per week (may change due to local/state ordinances)

People 

  • Continue to evolve the People Operations infrastructure to support the growth of the organization
  • Assist in people programs and processes, including engagement surveys, performance review cycles and employee experience
  • Partner and support people managers with employee engagement, recognition, retention & development
  • Collect and compile HR metrics and data
  • Partner with PEO to ensure compliance   

About you: 

The position is a perfect fit for an aspiring person who has experience in building upon the current employee experience, office and people operations. As an ambassador for Code for America, you will build relationships with all team members across the organization. 

  • 6+ years of experience leading the employee experience (People Operations/ HR and Office), preferably at a growing technology organization 
  • Developed planning and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working autonomously and in ambiguous environments
  • Exceptional communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to wear multiple hats and juggle between strategic long-term projects and the day-to-day

It’s a bonus points if you/have:

  • Experience supporting a distributed team with insight and sensitivity to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Experience with a PEO
  • Knowledge of San Francisco’s local ordinances

  • Compensation: Code for America’s salary bands are transparent internally as a part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We extend this to our hiring process. This role at this level is ranged from ($80,000 - $120,000) in yearly salary. As a part of our equitable hiring practices, we target the median for all new hires. The median for this role is $100,000. These ranges and the target are for the San Francisco/ Bay Area market and subject to adjustment for cost of living differentials.
