Our Position

You will be the face of Talent Acquisition! In this role, you will help create a memorable candidate experience and have a lasting impact on our brand and the people interested in joining our biomedical community. You will partner with recruiters, biomedical laboratories, and hiring managers to provide a world-class Talent Acquisition experience.

The scientific recruiting group serves our laboratories by providing strategic, scientific recruitment across the end-to-end recruiting process and planning and executing recruiting initiatives. You will be intimately involved in our Campus recruiting efforts of Research Assistants and act as the liaison between Human Resources and our RURAA group. RURAA offers recent college graduates in the life sciences the opportunity to work full-time in biomedical research for 1-2 gap years as preparation for medical school or graduate programs. Rockefeller employs approximately 120 Research Assistants across 80 biomedical research labs. You’ll report directly to and receive direction and mentorship from the Assistant Director of Talent in this role. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with full-cycle recruitment efforts for the Rockefeller University Research Assistant (RURAA) program at 25 Universities, playing a critical role in creating a positive and impactful experience for candidates. Our team collaborates closely with Heads of Labs, hiring managers, career services, and diversity-based partner organizations to hire top-tier talent for the organization.
  • Evaluating and screening resumes and cover letters, conducting interviews, facilitating the “matching ” process for candidates and hiring managers, coordinating on-site visits, and managing our ATS. These efforts serve to cultivate and expand Rockefeller’s presence at Universities; 50 Research Assistants successfully recruited and hired each year as a result.
  • Coordinating staff recruitment across laboratories and support departments, including working with hiring managers and key stakeholders to identify hiring needs, hone candidate searches, conduct initial interviews, and initiate reference checks and offer processes. 
  • Managing detailed scheduling of virtual and in-person interviews throughout the recruitment process, including coordinating travel plans and accommodations for candidates as needed.
  • Sourcing candidates for challenging and technical positions via LinkedIn and targeted job postings. 
  • Serving as a liaison between HR and employee affinity groups (Rockefeller University Research Assistant, Laboratory Information Network Connect) to coordinate regular social events and successful training series; these efforts promote employee engagement and cultivate the unique Rockefeller culture. 
  • Posting job descriptions in the Applicant Tracking System, career websites, job boards, and university websites.

 Requirements

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
  • Familiarity with social media, especially LinkedIn
  • Hands-on experience with various selection processes like phone interviews and reference checks preferred
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and candidate management systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the life sciences, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology or relevant field a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A passion for building a pipeline of underrepresented talent; Familiarity or interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in Human Resources
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in biomedical research, HR, recruiting, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Collaborate with humility and emotional maturity within a team dynamic
  • Act with a sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership of responsibilities
  • Willingness to travel (currently N/A, applicable when travel is once again recommended
