Digital Engagement Fellow

Digital Engagement Fellowship Program: Latina Institute seeks bilingual (Spanish-English) digital engagement fellows who are passionate about reproductive justice to help engage, activate, mobilize, and organize supporters, activists, and allies of Latina Institute digitally. The fellows will help build independent, progressive political power through developing, leading, and executing digital content via our digital channels (social media, email, text, EveryAction) to help organize state-based campaigns that build our base of supporters, activists, and leaders for reproductive justice.

As a Latina Institute Digital Fellow, you’ll spend six months (June to December) gaining a deeper understanding of the digital tools needed to engage our base and create the content and engagement strategy to build support for our state-based organizing, education, mobilizing, and policy advocacy. Fellows will co-create their work plans that are informed and align with state work plans goals and objectives. Fellows will report directly to their state Managers/Associate Director. Fellows are also expected to work with the Digital Engagement Director and Social Media Manager for training and alignment.

There will be biweekly lunch and learns with the Director of Digital Engagement and Social Media Manager to hear and learn the best practices for digital engagement. Biweekly lunch and learns topics include social media writing, using Canva, email/newsletter writing, digital fundraising, broadcast SMS, and more. Lunch and learns are designed to expand the tools for digital fellows and no expectation that all tools will need to be used. Must be available starting June 6th. Please ensure that you can participate on the following days/times:

• June 6th
• June 9th at 11:30am ET
• Starting June 13th weekly meeting with your state team (NY Tuesdays at 11am ET; TX Wednesdays at Weekly 11am CT)
• Starting June 14th biweekly meetings 12 to 1:30pm ET with digital team
• June 14th at 10am ET
• June 22nd at 10am ET

The rest of the fellowship hours will be determined with your State Manager/Associate Director.

Fellows must reside in the state they are applying to work for (TX or NY) and only one fellow will be selected per state. Fellows will be paid $20 an hour, 20 hours a week, on a biweekly basis. Fellows will submit weekly timesheets. Fellows will fill out a 1099 form and be responsible for their taxes.

Program Responsibilities

• Work with State team and the Director of Digital Engagement on strategic goals to help build grassroots support for Latina institute’s reproductive justice work by managing state digital engagement efforts (social media, email, and P2P and/or SMS)
• Create a digital calendar for state social media and emails.
• Develop timely weekly social media content that is informative, appealing, and on-brand that reflects Reproductive Justice at Latina Institute.
• Create a monthly email newsletter, and as needed rapid response mobilization emails.
• Help track followers' online engagement in our Agorapulse and EveryAction.
• Help execute digital campaigns and events to grow online state audience and engagement of our online supporters.
• Help produce creative content for Latina Institute’s state social media sites, email list, and texts.
• Help execute Latina Institute’s brand voice and tone on state social media channels, emails, and texts.
• Utilize social listening tools to deepen engagement with your audience.
• Track, understand, and apply analytics and metrics to measure the effectiveness of tools and strategies.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
• A sincere passion and commitment to reproductive, racial, social, and economic justice and building power for working people.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A willingness to learn, the ability to work hard with occasional evenings and/or weekends.
• Experience with digital organizing tools and platforms.
• Knowledge of Facebook and Twitter needed. EveryAction, P2P or SMS texting programs and Voter Action Network (VAN) knowledge is a plus.
