About the Academy

Established in 1847, The New York Academy of Medicine continues to address the health challenges facing New York City and the world’s rapidly growing urban populations. We accomplish this through our Institute for Urban Health, home of interdisciplinary research, evaluation, policy and program initiatives; our world class historical medical library and its public programming in history, the humanities and the arts; and our Fellows program, a network of more than 2,000 experts elected by their peers from across the professions affecting health.

Position Overview

The New York Academy of Medicine seeks an experienced health services researcher to contribute to current and potential studies focused on health care and social service delivery system reform, value-based payment models, health services utilization and quality measurement. This would include significant involvement in current studies focused on the transformation of primary care across New York State and the health impacts of clinical-community partnerships.

The candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and with grant and contracting organizations, including local, state, and federal agencies. She or he must have a good understanding of health care delivery, as well as the social, behavioral, economic, and managerial factors that affect health care delivery systems and health. In addition, candidates should have experience drafting reports, journal articles, and presentations of findings, and developing grant and contract proposals. The expectation is that the individual hired will, in collaboration with internal and external partners, seek opportunities to sustain and expand this body of work.
