Job Summary

Volunteer Fairfax works to build a better community through service. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP-Northern Virginia) based at Volunteer Fairfax is a project funded by a national grant under the Corporation for National and Community Services (CNCS). The RSVP-Northern Virginia team works to recruit, place, and support volunteers (age 55+) in impact focused service opportunities supporting local non-profit and government organizations in Fairfax, Alexandria, and Arlington. The RSVP Outreach Specialist will be tasked with researching effective and relevant marketing tools for the targeted population and creating corresponding communication and marketing tools to use to assist for volunteer recruitment and recognition. Additionally, this position will focus on program outreach and volunteer recruitment to support the vision and mission of the RSVP-NV program. This position will work closely with the RSVP Program Manager and staff to implement a marketing plan and recruit new volunteers that meet identified needs in Northern Virginia.


Specific Duties

Ø Build awareness of RSVP-Northern Virginia through speaking engagements, marketing tools and media outlets, in Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria.

Ø Maintain a calendar of upcoming outreach opportunities and track progress toward achieving goals for volunteer recruitment.

Ø Support the production of a monthly RSVP E-newsletter to inform members about current opportunities and further engage them in the program.

Ø Work with local media outlets to get the word out about RSVP-Northern Virginia, including press releases, newsletter articles, and blog posts.

Ø Develop and record quarterly podcasts/radio program spots to highlight the RSVP program.

Ø Support development and integration of online channels, such as website and social media. Providing statistical analysis to report effectiveness of implemented measures.

Ø Support development of promotional materials and informational resources for volunteers and community partners.

Ø Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support outreach efforts in Fairfax, Alexandria, and Arlington.

Ø Represent RSVP-Northern Virginia at relevant community meetings, outreach and recognition events as instructed by RSVP Program Manager.

Ø Refer interested volunteers to upcoming orientations and/or RSVP Volunteer Specialist.

Ø Work with the Program Manager and Development staff to Identify potential in-kind program support and contribute writing support for grant applications.

Ø Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.


Volunteer Fairfax

Reports to RSVP-NV Program Manager

Ø Support Volunteer Fairfax all staff days (VolunteerFest, Volunteer Service Awards Breakfast, Give Together, etc)

Ø Provide communication support and knowledge to Volunteer Fairfax staff as requested by CEO


Qualifications

Ø Be proficient in Adobe products (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)

Ø Be proficient in Social Media platforms

Ø Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows

Ø Must possess superior oral, written and public speaking communication skills

Ø Must be organized and detail oriented

Ø Must have time management skills and be deadline oriented

Ø Must have ability to work independently as well as in partnership with team

Ø Must have reliable transportation

Ø Be ready to report to work in the immediate future


Requirement

As some VF activities require offsite attendance, must have a valid driver’s license and access to an automobile for local travel.
