Description

Position Summary: The clerical assistant’s primary duty is to provide clerical support to BCIL’s administrative department with duties including back-up front-desk reception, bilingual phone coverage and program support. Also will assist individual BCIL staff with tasks such as data entry, correspondence and reports. Reports to the HR Director.


Essential Job Functions:

·      Assist staff with data entry and completion of necessary reports.

·      Support staff and consumers transitioning people from nursing homes, including purchasing approved items online.

·           Provide back-up reception duties in English and, as needed, in Spanish including answering phones, greeting and directing visitors and performing duties associated with incoming and outgoing mail.

·      Assist with reports of any consumer purchases.

·      Assist with logistics for BCIL public meetings and events.

·      Assist with preparing mailings.

·      Assist with special projects.

·      Other duties as assigned.


Desired Qualifications:

·      Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially regarding phone reception.

·      Ability to speak both English and Spanish.

·      Familiarity with the needs of persons with disabilities and commitment to Independent Living.

·      Very good computer skills and a strong knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Word and Outlook.

·      Good organizational skills.

·      Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team

·      Sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities

·      Commitment to independent living philosophy

·      Project oriented.

·      Excellent ability to manage time effectively

·      Self starter.


Duties will be assigned by supervisor with the goal of establishing a regular schedule of activities, though inherent in this position will be the ability to perform assigned tasks as needed.








Hours

40 Hours – Full Time


Compensation:

           2 weeks paid vacation (increases with length of service)

           2 personal days

           11 holidays

           12 sick days

           Health, dental, (75% paid by agency). Short-term disability, long-term

disability, group life insurance 100% company paid.


           Salary: $31,000/year.
