Program Coordinator/Social Worker

Youth Spirit Artworks seeks a lively, fun and well organized Program Coordinator/Social Worker coordinating our arts-anchored core jobs readiness program empowering homeless/unsheltered and unstably housed young people, ages 16 to 25.

Current regular YSA studio program hours are Mon. to Fri. 12:30pm to 6:30pm. The hours of the Program Coordinator and other full time staff are 10:30am to 6:30pm.

Qualifications and Experience Needed:

--B.A. or B.S. essential;

--Non-profit management training/experience valued;

--Patience and leadership abilities connecting with & organizing young people essential;

--Ability to hold structured, safe space, such as in a classroom important;

--Experience with and commitment to using a strengths-focused model important;

--Experience working with diverse ethnic/racial populations in an urban setting;

--Experience working with homeless/at risk youth a plus;

--Experience working with youth on probation or in the criminal justice system a plus;

--Experience working with individuals dealing with mental illness & trauma a plus;

--Experience and skills handling collection of program data, and maintaining program records, and completing program reports;

--Experience setting and meeting program goals and developing and implementing outcome evaluation tools/systems;

--Experience engaging, inspiring and managing volunteers a plus;

--Experience with implementing restorative practices a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Outreach and Program Coordination (36 hrs. per week avg.):

--Outreach to key partner agencies, schools and congregations publicizing YSA's core jobs training program and oversee staff and intern outreach efforts for YSA's job training program;

--On-board new youth to YSA's jobs training program, including emailing information and tracking applications submitted;

--Facilitate and track youth carrying out the weekly curriculum for YSA’s Core Jobs Readiness Program tracking youth participation, goal setting and achievement in conjunction with key staff;

--Track and orchestrate payment of youth stipends;

--Set the Studio Jobs Training Program tone creating relationships of concern and respect for YSA youth, and serving as a lively, fun, & attentive presence with youth at YSA;

--Carry out and aggregate regular semester-session performance measurement work for YSA's core jobs readiness program in conjunction with the staff team and YSA Outcomes Consultants;

--Coordinate YSA calendars in conjunction with other staff, including event attendance by youth;

--Facilitate team scheduling of weekly trainings on diverse subjects pertaining to youth development in alignment with YSA program logic model and work with intern or youth on this, as practical;

--Develop & strengthen core program curriculum; delegate implementation work to YSA leadership team, volunteers, & interns;

--Work to ensure completion of all participant applicant materials, program assessments and evaluations, and program covenant-related paperwork in conjunction with Social Work team;

--Oversee team facilitation of regular Friday Youth Empowerment Group Meetings & weekly Leader Team Meetings;

--Oversee staff work engaged with youth Leaders facilitating peer goal setting and fulfillment of individual youth vocational and professional goals and activities needed to reach goals;

--Serve as one main YSA point person in charge of supervising Interns and Volunteers;

--Carry out recruitment of youth for YSA in conjunction with social workers and other team members.

Supervision/Staff Collaboration (4 hrs. per week avg.):

--Work in a core team with the social worker/case managers, teaching staff, and Gallery staff on studio coverage and daily activities coordination;

--Weekly supervision with YSA Executive Director (1 hr per week avg);

--Check in with staff supervising & developing agreements for Leaders and Apprentice Leaders in their efforts climbing YSA’s Progression Ladder (brief, 15 min per week avg);

--Coordinate with Core Teacher/Sr Artist team (30 min per week avg);

--Staff Team meetings (weekly—1.5 hr.).

Salary: Determined by experience. Position has the ability to expand and develop with increasing responsibilities and hours.
