The Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is a not-for-profit organization providing civil legal services to low income persons throughout Washington State. NJP has over 230 staff working in 19 offices located throughout the state of Washington. NJP is hiring a second Desktop Support/Help Desk Technician assigned to our administrative office in Seattle. This person will be an integral member of the NJP tech team which also includes two System Administrators and additional Desktop support/Helpdesk position.

The Desktop Support/Help Desk Technician reports to the Director of Administration and works directly with the system administrators.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·        Providing Help Desk functions, e.g., answering staff questions in person or over the phone to solve computer, phone or printing problems.

·        Assessing the problem and repairing broken hardware.

·        Assessing the problem with non-working software.

·        Training/orienting all new employees to NJP technology

·        Create training documentation/presentations for staff about current technologies used at NJP

·        Preparing and/or assisting in staff training (technical documentation)

·        Installing new hardware, software and upgrades to workstations.

·        Managing day-to-day network administration, e.g., creating and deleting staff accounts, maintaining computer inventory and recommending technology changes, upgrades, efficiencies.

·        Lifting and moving hardware as required to perform the duties of the computer specialist.

·        Some travel to field offices throughout the state may be required


Desired skills for the position:


  • Proficient in Office 2016 Suite 
  • Windows 7 and newer workstation skills and setup
  • Ability to provide diagnostic troubleshooting in person and over the phone
  • General networking knowledge and experience with Windows networks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating training documentation
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Patience working with those with varying technical skills and abilities
  • Able to work as an effective member of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

COMPENSATION:

Starting salary is based upon years of experience, with an annual salary range starting at $52,890. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes 100% paid employee health premiums and significant premium shares for family health premiums, as well as generous time off.

Hours of work: 9:00 – 5:00, Monday through Friday
