FAME Center offers fine arts education through music lessons, digital and visual art, computer coding classes, musical theater and drama classes, creative writing, and music therapy for mental health. Position Summary

FAME center is seeking an experienced, highly organized Director of Business Operations & Development to join our team. This position is responsible for the overall management, business development, and day-to-day operations (i.e. administrative, human resources, and information technology)  of the organization. In collaboration with the executive director, this person will identify profitable business opportunities, develop long-term business growth strategies, and facilitate improved operations planning and management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. They will have strong business acumen with a strategic ability, as well as the capability to focus on analyzing, managing, and monitoring revenue, labor, marketing, new business opportunities, and operational efficiency. 

 

Compensation 

This position has an annual salary of $60K. FAME Center currently does not offer a benefits package. HOWEVER, one of the top priorities of this role is assisting the executive director in selecting benefits packages and implementing standardized HR practices for employees and contractors.   


Essential Functions

Organizational Development 

  • In collaboration with the executive director, develop goals, strategies, and plans for the long-term financial, programmatic, and organizational health.
  • Manage organization development activities, such as change initiatives, strategic planning, needs assessments, customization of tools, and staff learning experiences. 
  • Implement business plans, timelines, and budgets to perform activities that keep the organization functioning efficiently without exceeding financial and programmatic limits.

 

Operations Management

  • Administration: Evaluate existing systems and recommend and implement improvements, as needed. Track and monitor resources and material needs for carrying out financial, administration, and programmatic tasks. Oversee administrative functions, including facilities and infrastructure management, to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales. Work with the executive director (and in some cases the board of directors) to ensure the organization is in compliance with financial and administrative controls to ensure a sustainable path.

 

  • Human Resources: Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding. Assist the executive director in resource identification, work assignment, performance evaluation, and promotion decisions. Determine suitable salaries, remuneration, and benefits packages. Provide payroll support.

 

  • Information Technology: Oversee and direct the day-to-day activities of an organization's information technology, ensuring that systems, databases, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely. Select automation software and platforms that best meet the organization’s needs.

 

Business and Program Development

  • Business: Develop in-depth knowledge of the organization’s programs to identify profitable business opportunities. Direct marketing efforts to support new business opportunities. Prepare all supporting documentation required for requests for proposals (RFPs) and grants. Research emerging trends and recommend new offerings to satisfy the mission and vision of the organization. In collaboration with the executive director, develop and manage strategic partnerships to grow the organization.

 

  • Program: In collaboration with the executive director and program staff, initiate and set goals for programs according to the organization’s strategic objectives. Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements. Discover ways to enhance program efficiency and productivity of procedures and people. Support program staff in ensuring that program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies, and apply change, risk, and resource management principles when needed.

 

Financial Oversight

  • Oversee the preparation of financial records and reports related to the general ledger, accounts receivable, account payable, payroll, expenses, and budget. 
  • Assist in developing, managing, and monitoring financial management systems.


Reports To: Executive Director

Supervises: Administrative Assistant and Program Development Coordinator

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration or related field; master's degree is advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of experience in business administration, business and program development and operations, as well as 3 years of experience in a supervisory position
  • Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge in budget management and project management. 
  • Experience with Quickbooks, computer applications, and donor management software.
  • Experience in nonprofit management preferred
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Drive, Forms, etc.) and Slack.
  • Keen analytical, communication, organizational, problem solving, and reasoning skills 
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently and in a team.
  • Kind hearted and compassionate individual who is passionate about FAME Center’s mission, vision, and values.
