Compensation and Benefits: ​This position is exempt full time with excellent benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

The Dream Beyond Bars Program Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day program coordination and implementation of the program. This position will ensure seamless integration and alignment of; program planning and reporting, team coordination, curriculum development, program delivery, and evaluation. In this role, the Program Coordinator will both support young adults and be responsible for day-to-day program needs, any funding contracts and grant reporting, and internal program structure.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Dream Beyond Bars Program Coordinator will also be responsible for supervising a part time program associate.

This opportunity calls for an experienced manager who is talented at working with formerly incarcerated and systems impacted youth, focused on continuous learning and improvement, and energized to take the Dream Beyond Bars program to a new level of performance and impact.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strengthen program model and team performance

  • ● Execute all facets of ongoing DBB program each year, including all program planning, coordination and delivery
  • ● Supervise CURYJ’s DBB Program Associate
  • ● Develop and execute Fellowship recruitment, application, and onboarding processes
  • ● Provide mentorship and support to DBB program associate and Fellows
  • ● Provide informal life coaching support to Fellows and make referrals to life coaching
  • staff as needed
  • ● Co-facilitate DBB team meetings along with program associate
  • ● Work closely with program associate to identify trainings and leadership opportunities
  • for Fellows
  • ● Work closely with Policy and organizing team to identify policy priorities for fellows to
  • engage in
  • ● Able to coordinate and mobilize current and past DBB fellows to support CURYJ’s
  • direct action campaigns and policies, when needed
  • ● Oversee and manage timelines, benchmarks, and deadlines for DBB program
  • ● Develop and maintain program and project master calendars
  • ● Lead ongoing curriculum development and ensure that curriculum is engaging,
  • culturally rooted, justice-oriented, healing-informed, and aligned with other CURYJ
  • programs
  • ● Facilitate social justice and life-skills workshops to Fellows, when necessary
  • ● Instill a sense of accountability and teambuilding by modeling excellent time
  • management skills and professional conduct at all time
  • ● Collaborate with other program staff to improve cross-program coordination
  • ● Represent CURYJ at external coalitions and partner meetings when necessary, ensuring
  • alignment with organization’s values and program goals
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ● At least three (3) years of direct experience coordinating and facilitating a youth program
  • ● Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training
  • ● Ability to manage multiple projects and stay accountable to individual and team plans
  • and goals
  • ● Understanding of Oakland and East Bay cities and intermediate experience in
  • community organizing
  • ● Experience working with low-income communities of color and/or formerly incarcerated
  • people
  • ● Some experience and/or proficiency in curriculum development
  • ● Exceptional communication skills for working effectively with a variety of staff members,
  • young people, and multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to the ability to
  • facilitate and write persuasively and clearly
  • ● Excellent analytical, interpersonal, listening and organizational skills
  • ● Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace
  • ● Capacity to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently and meet deadlines
  • ● Experience building and maintaining team cohesion, supporting professional development and evaluating team members
  • ● Demonstrated ability to prioritize to meet aggressive goals and timelines
  • ● Deep commitment to and understanding of youth justice issues and to elevating the
  • voices of systems-impacted young people
  • ● Flexibility to work during non-traditional work hours (evenings and weekends)
  • ● Ability to travel locally and on occasion to other parts of the state
