Job Description

Looking to give back to your community this year? Do you believe there should be equity in youth sports?  Then, become an Up2Us Sports VISTA at South End Soccer, and help sports-based youth development movement and create equity in youth sports.

South End Soccer believes every child should be able to play sports. Our mission is to give any urban youth the opportunity to play the world’s most popular sport regardless of prior experience or economic means; use soccer as a tool to create a caring community by connecting diverse and dissociated populations.  We annually provide over 1,200 urban youth FREE opportunities to play through, our recreational league, travel teams, exposure clinics, and developmental training. And our work extends beyond the pitch, we use soccer as a vehicle to bring together youth, families, and neighbors from all backgrounds and cultures to create bonds, form friendships, and create a caring community. There is a need for equity in youth sports, and we navigate the obstacles that hinder urban youth and underserved communities from getting on the field and engendering a love of the game.

VISTAs will play a powerful role in helping to rebuild communities and nonprofits to ensure youth are supported, especially as we traverse out of the COVID pandemic. As a Up2Us Sports VISTA, you will help in one or several of the following ways: 1) build capacity of the organization, 2) collaborate with the development and marketing team to help identify and secure funding opportunities, 3) support soccer programs, 4) support fundraising events. During the program, you will have the opportunity to gain skills through professional development, interact with numerous passionate individuals, and know your work is positively impacting the sports-based youth development movement.

As a VISTA, you will assist with one or more of the following:

(1) Development and Fundraising: Research grant opportunities for grant writers and assist with submissions; manage donor customer relationship databases, and support development teams with fundraising events, creating sponsorship materials and donor acknowledgments.
