YWCA Brooklyn is expanding the scope and reach of its community programs and is seeking to fill several new positions to support the organization’s recent growth. YWCA Brooklyn’s mission is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace justice freedom and dignity for all. The organization is Brooklyn’s largest and oldest nonprofit serving women and girls. YWCA Brooklyn furthers its mission by providing 300 units of safe, affordable housing for low-income women, most of whom are survivors of gender-based violence; a college access and leadership program serving 400 low-income girls of color; education and legal assistance for immigrant women; and a community center that is a nexus for over 100 progressive grassroots organizations.

College Success Coordinator: The College Success Coordinator works directly with alumni of the YWCA Brooklyn’s College Access Program to support young women as they transition from high school to college, and to assure college persistence. The YWCA Brooklyn’s College Access Program prepares low-income, first generation, young women of color attending under-resourced high schools for college access, community leadership and economic advancement. The College Success Coordinator prepares these young women for the transition to college and supports them throughout their college years. The initiative focuses on academic resources, campus life, financial literacy, civic engagement, support services, navigating administrative systems, leadership and safety. Success is measured by the number of young women in the program who graduate from four year colleges. This position is responsible for program implementation, evaluation, data management and reporting. The Coordinator reports to the Director of College Access and Leadership, and works closely with an interdisciplinary team including the program’s College Advisor as well as college admissions and support service staff.


Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience specifically in the area of college persistence. Master’s degree in education or related field strongly preferred multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
