The Office of Adult Education seeks a qualified consultant to assist with the online course facilitation of the Digital Skills and Bicycle Thrills (DSBT) program. This is an innovative program that increases the number of safe and healthy bike riders on Philly streets in low-income neighborhoods, while simultaneously increasing participants’ digital literacy skills. Piloted in the spring of 2016, this program has already engaged over 100 learners across Philadelphia, with a completion rate of over 60%.

This cohort-based, community education program provides Philly residents (18+) with free memberships to Indego, Philadelphia’s Bike Share program, for six months, in exchange for completing the online bike safety certification program at select KEYSPOT computer labs and community-based organizations near Indego locations. The underlying rationale for this program is that digital literacy skills are more readily adopted when they are embedded within content-based learning goals; and, that learning is a social process that happens best in collaboration with others.

This position is appropriate for applications with significant experience in teaching. OAE is looking for an individual who can engage diverse Philadelphians in a unique program. Experience with online course facilitation, instructional design, and digital literacy training is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

-Attend bi-weekly team meetings to begin in April and run through the end of the second cohort in Fall 2018

-When course is live, conduct daily check-ins with learners and engage learners who are not completing work with calls, emails, etc.

-Grade assignments, post announcements, and track all learner outcomes

-Develop new content and provide insights into course improvement as needed

-As a part of the OAE Digital Initiatives team, collaboratively develop and co-facilitate program Orientation, Extra Help Sessions, and Final Celebration
