The part-time, temporary HR Recruiter is responsible for RI’s human resources full-cycle recruiting including researching and evaluating candidates, pre-screening applicants, conducting background checks, new hire onboarding, performance management, and HR administration. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Finance and Operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Devises individual strategies and initiatives to attract and strengthen the pool of talent;
  • Leads the recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers, writes and places advertisements, works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates, conducts reference checking, organizes and conducts new-employee orientations, and conducts exit interviews;
  • Monitors the progress of prospective candidates through the recruitment process, including timely communications to managers;
  • Maintains and manages detailed records of candidates;
  • Acts as a point of contact for candidates throughout their interview process;
  • Provides support to RI’s management team during in-person interview days, including preparing interview materials, managing candidate logistics, sharing interview notes, etc.;
  • Facilitates interview debriefs and follow-up;
  • Assists in developing short- and long-term recruitment calendars, strategies, and programs to attract and select a strong and diverse team;
  • Builds strong relationships with RI’s management team to ensure alignment of the recruitment process with program needs and optimize its execution;
  • Ensures each position at RI has a job description;
  • Assists the Operations Manager with annual salary surveys and salary budget;
  • Coordinates the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary;
  • Develops and recommends personnel policies and procedures and maintains RI’s Employee Handbook;
  • Establishes and maintains personnel files in line with the Employee Handbook;
  • Maintains organizational charts and employee directory;
  • Evaluates decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of department and services performed;
  • Establishes and coordinates a staff training schedule on relevant HR topics such as team development, legal compliance, leadership and supervision, stress management, effective meeting facilitation and RI policies;
  • Works closely with the Director of Finance and Operations regarding concerns of staff;
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws;
  • Performs operational tasks as assigned in support of the Ops/Fin department.
