Up to $60,000This is a full time, exempt, salaried position.

General responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 
  • Develop TPF’s annual individual fundraising strategy and donor organizing program to prospect, cultivate, and steward a strong base of individual donors who are committed to helping grow TPF over the long term.
  • Develop and manage TPF’s donor database, including running reports, entering, analyzing, and editing data. 
  • Track fundraising progress and create donation reports as requested. Monitor and reconciles all pledged gifts, matching gifts, and monthly donations
  • Collaborate with TPF staff to transition management and leadership of the Giving Project to Director of Donor Organizing, for a period of 3-6 months; Interim responsibilities will include shadowing and support for the Giving Project pilot cycle, and support for TPF’s community grantmaking.  
  • Manage and lead the implementation of the Giving Project, ensuring that the rigorous donor organizing training is consistent with organizational goals, values, and strategies.
  • Hire, train, and manage facilitators and other contractors for the Giving Project, using an experimental curriculum that includes political education around race and class, grassroots fundraising, and more.
  • Recruit a diverse pool of participants to the Giving Project and support them throughout the process, particularly in their efforts to build skills in individual grassroots fundraising. 
  • Represent the organization in a Giving Project national learning community to refine and improve program curriculum and operations in ways that better serve TPF and community needs;
  • Represent the Transforming Power Fund at community and philanthropic events, and be an external-facing representative for TPF.
  • Take on related projects as assigned by staff with creativity, initiative, and self-direction.

  • Strong fundraising experience, donor cultivation / donor organizing experience
  • 5+ years of experience with group facilitation, creating engaging agendas, and/or developing curriculum. Experience doing so in diverse groups is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing programs with budgets of $50,000 or more.
  • Experience working with and accountable to low-wealth people and communities of color.
  • Solutions-focused: You take ownership of challenges, get things done and enjoy creating operational and administrative solutions that keeps the office running efficiently.
  • Organized: You are attentive to detail, able to multitask but still keep track of priorities, with the ability to manage your workload and expectations accordingly while prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
NICE TO HAVES
  • Previous experience working in social justice and/or organizing communities in Detroit.
  • Bilingual, Spanish – speaking.

While undergraduate and graduate degrees in a relevant field are very helpful, neither are required when candidates can demonstrate significant evidence of equivalent experience and training. Equally, direct experience in the non-profit and philanthropic sectors is highly desirable, but neither are deal-breakers.

This is a full time, exempt, salaried position. The salary for this position is $60,000. As a sponsored project of Allied Media Projects, all TPF staff will be offered a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical (Blue Cross Blue Shield), dental, and vision plans.
