The James Beard Foundation has experienced a historic year of organizational transformation and increased philanthropic support. As the Foundation continues to evolve to be an impact-first organization, building a culture of philanthropy and a robust Development Department are critical.

The Development Coordinator is a key support role within the Development Department and the organization. Moving forward, the greatest philanthropic opportunity for the Foundation is to further develop a sophisticated principal and major giving program for individuals.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator will provide day-to-day support of all aspects of database management, moves tracking, donor relations, prospect research, overall administration, and more.

Key Responsibilities

As directed by the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator may be asked to assist with any of the below:

General Development Administration

·      Ensure all donors receive accurate and timely acknowledgment letters and donation receipts for gifts 

·      Assist with the creation of personalized acknowledgment letters and general templates/forms

·      Coordinate with Finance team to reconcile and confirm gift income with QuickBooks reports

·      Create weekly donation report; disseminate among C-Suite, Development, Media, and Finance departments

·      Monitor development and membership email distribution lists and ensure timely follow-up and response to general inquiries

·      Submit website requests and updates webpages as needed

·      Take meeting notes create meeting agendas and other preparatory materials

·      Assist with departmental scheduling

Database Support

·      Ensure all donor information is accurately maintained and updated in Salesforce

·      Prepare strategic and segmented donor lists for communications outreach, stewardship, event and cultivation purposes

·      Support Director of Development in moves management tracking, ensuring that all efforts are accurately monitored and tracked

Donor Relations

·      Assist, as needed, with all aspects of principal and major giving activities, as directed by Director of Development in conjunction with Development Manager

·      Assist Development Manager with coordination of Patron Program (formerly Membership program) ensuring that all “perks” and donor packages are fulfilled, executed and delivered; assist with Patron Program event coordination and communication, as needed

·      Serve as first point-of-contact for general donor requests, inquiries, donation processing, and more, responding in a timely and professional manner

·      Assist Development team, as needed, with preparation for Fall Gala related to table and ticket sales, the live appeal, related communications, and more

Donor Communications

·      Assist Development Manager with the collection of assets and data for donor communications, including digital fundraising assets, donor newsletters, invitations, fundraising brochures, campaign materials, and more

·      Ensure accurate and regularly updated donor and audience lists on Mailchimp and Pardot

·      Assist Development Manager with the drafting and review of donor communications, as needed

Other

·      Conduct Development mailings, as needed

·      Provide assistance at special events

·      Provide logistical and/or production support for virtual events, including donor webinars

·      Perform other related duties as assigned by management

This role will be based in New York City. JBF requires all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless a medical or religious accommodation is needed in accordance with applicable law.
