The Senior Manager, Individual Giving and Events serves on the Development Team for Girls Who Code (GWC), which has a mission to close the gender gap in technology and prepare our nation’s girls for the jobs of the future. This role reports to the VP of Development and manages the Development Associate. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in cultivating current and future donors to GWC, and developing and implementing a strategy to increase the size and number of gifts from individuals, foundations and events currently totaling over $3M in our dynamic and growing portfolio of more than $20M.   • Develop and refine GWC's individual giving strategy; establish detailed fundraising plans to reach ambitious annual goals and define the pathways to achieve them
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with high-net worth individuals and foundations through research, analysis of fit, and design of outreach strategies
  • Lead strategy for all components of the annual gala’s design, production, and execution, ensuring an inspiring, and impactful experience
  • Organize and execute unique cultivation and special events allowing us to connect with potential donors by shining a light on our work in personalized settings
  • Provide and present statistical analyses of individual giving fundraising successes, challenges, and opportunities to Executive Leadership at regular intervals
  • Oversee events logistics to ensure an exceptional donor experience, with a focus on cultivation and stewardship
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Programs teams to create meaningful materials and reports that keep donors engaged in programs and give visibility to the impact of their gifts
  • Manage and support the Development Associate
  • With the VP of Development, develop working relationships with Board members to support fundraising efforts


  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience and thorough knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques
  • Demonstrated record of success in meeting ambitious goals
  • Innovative, outside-the-box approach to telling our unique story and pitching our high-impact value proposition
  • Adept at planning and executing special events of varying scale
  • Impeccable written communication skills with a focus on persuasive writing and storytelling
  • Exceptional interpersonal, and networking skills; desire and ability to serve as ambassador for the organization
  • Experience leading and managing a direct report
  • Detail-oriented with superb organizational skills and a commitment to excellent follow up and follow through
  • Strong information management skills, particularly with CRM software (Salesforce preferred)
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in computer science, technology, and/or education preferred  
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, maturity, positivity and confidence
