Accion helps neighborhood entrepreneurs grow by providing the coaching, capital, and connections that small business owners need to create jobs and wealth in communities throughout Illinois and Northwest Indiana. Accion creates economic development at a level that other financial institutions cannot reach. By providing loans up to $100,000 to qualified borrowers, we fill a gap in the credit market that large financial institutions don’t serve. Without Accion, many of the region’s budding entrepreneurs and promising start-ups would be stranded without access to credit and the communities around them would not reap the benefit of the jobs and capital they can produce.

Accion Chicago is a member of Accion, The U.S. Network, the nation’s largest microlending network, and has made more than 5,000 loans totaling $42 million to small businesses throughout Illinois and Northwest Indiana since 1994.
