Description

SfN is searching for a Membership Coordinator that will play a key role in supporting membership, chapters, and committee initiatives to increase the value, awareness, and engagement of SfN's dynamic, global membership. The Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of initiatives related to member outreach and relations. This role is ideal for a candidate who has experience at the assistant level and/or has had exposure to membership in an association setting


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports membership engagement efforts including copywriting and project support.
  • Administers programs to support individual members and promote membership, including:
  • Member recognition program
  • Onboarding programs for new and reinstated members
  • Coordinating with other departments to enhance members-only offerings and segmentation on current and new initiatives
  • Helps promote SfN chapter events and membership by coordinating emails to local neuroscience communities
  • Responsible for drafting articles and coordinating with other programmatic departments on a quarterly chapter newsletter, as well as coordination with Member Communications team to assist with ad-hoc e-mail messaging for chapters and institutional program members.
  • Assists in staffing committee activities and meetings, including committee correspondence.
  • Coordinates logistics related to the committee meetings and committee conference calls.
  • Assists manager with coordination of Chapters Subcommittee.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for SfN chapter representatives and chapter-related inquiries from members.
  • Supports the building and implementing of strategies that result in the development and growth of chapters, including the coordination of chapter petitions, awards and grants, as well as maintenance and monitoring of chapter-related programs, activities and reporting.
  • Provides Finance with updated information on all chapter subordinates listed under SfN's group exemption on an annual basis.
  • Coordinates chapter-related events at the SfN annual meeting, and prepares all accompanying materials.
  • Updates content on membership and chapters pages of SfN website and recommends content improvements.
  • Maintains exceptional membership services and serves as a project leader with external member services vendor.
  • Works closely with technology team, as needed, to track and resolve recurring web errors.
  • Coordinates with technology and finance teams to implement regular membership database updates, including annual membership renewals.
  • Provides support for Sustaining Associate Members (SAM) and Institutional Program members (IP) as needed, including updates to the website and other administrative support as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Supervisory Experience:

  • None.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-2 years' of work experience in a nonprofit setting.
  • Experience using an AMS daily (preferably Personify).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be able to effectively write reports and business correspondence.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with outside vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Experience with volunteer committees and basic chapter development.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs.
