    Your Role:

    The Community Engagement Specialist is a dynamic and inspiring role dedicated to implementing recruitment efforts and promoting Girl Scouting through various channels, including in-person and virtual events, phone calls, and presentations. This role requires leveraging inside and outside sales experience, MEDDIC qualification skills, presentation skills, grit, resourcefulness, and the ability to work in ambiguity. The Specialist will work to increase membership and engagement by interacting with families, community organizations, schools, and other entities who have a vested interest in empowering youth, fostering excitement about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

    How You Will Succeed:

    You will leverage your sales experience and communication skills to develop and implement SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) recruitment strategies. Through consistent, compassionate, and creative communication, collaboration, and consultation with strategically engaged communities, you will execute daily and weekly digital initiatives, host monthly in-person Signature Events, and collaborate with our Service Unit Volunteers, Outdoor Program, and Communications team to achieve goals.

    Competencies & Responsibilities:

    • Recruitment and Membership Growth:
      • Meet annual membership goals for youth and adults.
      • Identify prospects and utilize sales strategies to generate leads and convert them into new memberships.
      • Plan and participate in recruitment events, presentations, and community engagement activities.
      • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools, and faith-based institutions.
    • Sales and Strategy Execution:
      • Implement recruitment marketing strategies outlined in the council’s strategic plan.
      • Utilize MEDDIC qualification skills to identify and manage potential leads.
      • Ensure leads are entered into Salesforce accurately and in a timely manner.
      • Prepare reports and analyze membership data to inform strategies.
    • Community Engagement:
      • Represent the Girl Scout brand in building relationships with local community partners, youth-serving organizations, and other community-based entities.
      • Lead regular community listening sessions to understand community needs and recommend solutions.
      • Partner with Girl Scout staff to test, iterate, and scale potential opportunities for girls.
      • Recruit new girls from assigned communities in partnership with local Girl Scout council staff, achieving annual goals.
    • Professional Development and Training:
      • Lead and participate in regular professional development opportunities, including training in DEI, mental wellness, and girl development.
      • Resource Management:
      • Manage assigned financial resources necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

    Your Expertise:

    Experience:

    • At least 6 years total relevant education and experience, including:
    • 3+ years in community engagement, youth development, sales, and/or recruitment.
    • 3+ years in relationship-building with a variety of collaborators.
    • Proven successful track record in sales, with a focus on results and goal orientation.

    Skills:

    • Effective social selling and use of technology for prospecting and driving traffic to events, using tools like ZoomInfo and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strategy and Data:
    • Ability to develop data-informed strategies to achieve local and statewide goals.

    Commitment:

    • Demonstrated success in youth development.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in youth programs or community-building initiatives.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
    • Knowledge of the Girl Scout organization and mission.
    • Outstanding ability to drive traffic to events, generate leads and convert leads quickly.
    • Understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.
    • Sandler Training certified.
