Who we are: Mabel Wadsworth Center is the only not-for-profit, private, independent, community-based feminist health center in Maine. We believe in health care that is based on empowerment and putting individuals in charge of their healthcare. We are proud to offer primary care, abortion care, gender affirming care, sexual and reproductive care, and mental health care all in our small Bangor-based practice.

Our primary care practice is growing! We offer patient-centered, relationship focused health care that our community appreciates and we need another provider to continue to see all the individuals who wish to come to Mabel’s for their care. 

This position works with our clinical and front desk staff to provide high quality, patient centered care, while maintaining patient safety and comfort in the healthcare environment.

Primary roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • collect interval and comprehensive histories
  • perform physical exams and selected procedures
  • make assessments and creating plans
  • order and interpret diagnostic studies
  • provide health counseling and education 
  • promote a philosophy of care that supports patient autonomy and choice
  • act as a preceptor for healthcare students as needed

The ideal candidate:

  • Will support reproductive justice for all, with particular support for the LGBTQ+ population. 
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience as a primary care provider preferred, but willing to train the ideal candidate. 
  • Current licensure (APRN) and certification is required.  
  • DEA certification required prior to hire or upon hiring. 
  • CPR certification is required.
