The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms around the world. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to improve public safety and reduce the use of jail and prison. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research on topics of justice reform and provides consulting services to criminal justice innovators.
For more than two decades, the Domestic Violence Programs have worked to improve the ways in which the justice system responds to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Through its work in New York State helping to create the Integrated Domestic Violence Court model, the program combines lessons learned at the local level with the latest research to deliver community-led, data-driven support and expertise to jurisdictions nationwide.
The Domestic Violence Program Department is seeking an Associate. Reporting to the Managing Director and the Director of Gender and Justice Initiatives, the Associate will support a wide range of domestic violence court projects and provide assistance to jurisdictions that are interested in enhancing their civil and criminal justice response to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The Program Associate will gain exposure to both local and national policies that shape justice agencies’ response to gender-based violence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Assist with the coordination of the Center’s National Technical Assistance projects and other national and statewide court planning and training initiatives;
· Support the administrative needs of the domestic violence team;
· Respond to information requests from court and other justice agency personnel;
· Conduct site visits of specialized domestic violence courts;
· Prepare materials for and conduct presentations and trainings;
· Assist with organizing conferences and in-person and virtual meetings;
· Assist with preparation of grants and grant reports.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a BA (required) and one-two years (preferred) in a related area, preferably experience working with domestic violence, violence against women, or other relevant women’s issues. Excellent written skills are a must. Candidate must be skilled communicator able to work in multi-disciplinary setting and maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations both onsite and in the community. Occasional travel will be required.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic, well-organized, and experienced professional that can aid the department in its efforts to provide expert assistance to jurisdictions across the U.S. and internationally.
