Overview of Position: 

The Individual Giving Manager is an integral part of our Fundraising team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early- to mid-career fundraiser to develop our major giving program and grow the individual giving program. This person will report to the Executive Director and support the ongoing planning, implementation and follow-up with and for individual donors. The COVID expansion of the Meals on Wheels Chicago’s number of individual donors and giving levels has necessitated a dramatic increase in the need for and pace of donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities – particularly as it relates to Major Donors & Mid-Major Donors. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating cultivation/stewardship/solicitation processes related to Major, Mid-Major, and High Net Worth donors including special acknowledgment letters and emails, in-house solicitations and mailings
  • Developing and project managing targeted direct-mail and digital fundraising campaigns including content ideation, design, and overall budget i.e., fall/spring direct mailers, end of year solicitations 
  • Assist in coordinating cultivation and stewardship events and volunteer opportunities, through planning, implementation, RSVP tracking, donor outreach follow-up, and reporting 
  • Responsible for a continuing program of donor acknowledgement including appreciation and recognition to ensure a high-quality donor experience
  • Maintain donor outreach records through planning, tracking, and reporting Major, Mid-Major and prospect donor interactions in Salesforce.
  • Supporting the team with ongoing administrative tasks and project coordination
  • Point person on Individual Giving externally (answering donor questions/emails and/or determining which team member should follow-up) and internally (coordinating with team when planning projects or events)
  • Managing/streamlining Individual Giving folders and files 

Grants

  • Support the Director of Marketing & Events in grant research

Events

  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events 
  • Work with team to maintain existing relationships and secure new corporate partners, both cash and in-kind
  • Managing event auction/raffle procurement and utilize Givesmart event platform to design and host auction/raffle packages 
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with individual giving at a nonprofit.
  • Track record of experience with a wide range of donors, from modest contributors (<$1,000) through to major donors (five to six figures).
  • High level 'big picture' strategy and 'roll up your sleeves' execution.
  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies for identification, cultivation and stewardship of donors
  • Team spirit, sense of humor, and willingness to work well and collaboratively in a small team atmosphere
  • Experience of donor management software, especially Salesforce experience.
  • Adept at building relationships; solid interpersonal skills
  • Social media platforms and design software a plus
