The Public Health Foundation (PHF), a national, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the public's health by strengthening the quality and performance of public health practice, is seeking a Product Manager for a position located in Washington, DC for its TRAIN Learning Network and Programs (train.org).  TRAIN is a multi-tenant national learning network that provides thousands of quality training opportunities to more than 2.8 million professionals who protect and improve the public's health. This position will report to the Assistant Director, TRAIN Learning Network.

As a Product Manager, you will be a primary liaison between PHF, its affiliate partners and clients, and TRAIN's technology vendor, KMI. Your focus in this role will be to lead product planning and execution throughout TRAIN's Product Lifecycle, including reviewing business processes, defining the product vision, and working closely with the external development vendor. You will be responsible for setting project timelines for meeting major milestones and deliverables as scheduled. You will also support sales and marketing efforts and work with the TRAIN support team to ensure the TRAIN team meets product growth and customer satisfaction goals. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that TRAIN supports PHF's overall strategy and goals.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate product vision and strategy development with Director and Assistant Director of TRAIN, the largest public health workforce learning management system in the United States.
  • Own product roadmap based on this vision.
  • Partner with external technology vendors to implement product roadmap.
  • Manage documentation.
  • Work with Technology vendor to ensure that enhancements, changes, and fixes are developed within scope, deployed as scheduled and costs remain within budget.
  • Work with staff, affiliate partners, and clients to review functional specifications and other deliverables provided by the external development vendor to make sure they meet all stated PHF requirements.
  • Plan and schedule development of new TRAIN functionality, and work with the development vendor to manage and schedule backlog items.
  • Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders regarding the status of ongoing product development.
  • Identify and assess risks and issues, mitigate risks, and develop contingency plans.

·        Perform other duties and contribute to ad hoc projects.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (concentration in Business or Information Systems preferred, MBA preferred).
  • Demonstrated success launching successful products or product enhancements.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in product management.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems or Software as a Service (SAAS).
  • Experience writing user stories and engineering tickets.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, focus, and commitment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and competing demands and responsibilities with competing priorities.

Benefits

PHF has an attractive benefits package and you will be eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance on your first day of employment.  PHF covers 80% of an employee’s health and dental insurance for those enrolled in our plan. First year employees accrue annual leave at the rate of 10 days per year; this increases to 20 days per year on the first anniversary. Sick leave is accrued at the rate of 13 days per year. PHF has a generous pension plan with Lincoln Financial. Employees are eligible for the pension plan at the beginning of their 7th month of employment. PHF contributes an amount equal to 10% of salary to the pension plan, on an annual basis. Employees are 40% vested after two years, 70% vested after three years and fully vested after four years.
