    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education is looking for a Development Associate to support the Development Manager and the Executive Director in managing fundraising activities for the organization. The Development Associate will work with a dynamic and thriving team of professionals, who enrich and uplift youth through shared cultural art and educational experiences and programs. The Associate will be responsible for various administrative and logistical tasks related to fundraising. This role will have an excellent opportunity to learn fundraising operations for a well-established non-profit.

    WE ARE: Casita Maria headquartered in the South Bronx, was established in 1934 as the first charitable organization to serve Latinos in New York City. Today, Casita Maria remains dedicated to its original mission, delivering services to the mostly Latino youth and families in the Bronx. Casita Maria also offers youth programming in East Harlem. Casita operates within a state-of-the-art educational and cultural facility encompassing performance spaces, an exhibition gallery, dance and music studios, and more on its Simpson Street campus.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Departmental coordination: Assist with execution of fundraising plans, including tracking deadlines, setting up meetings, and coordinating with staff across departments.
    • Donor database: Assume primary responsibility for updating and maintaining Casita Maria's donor database, Bloomerang, including files on individual donors, institutional supporters, and event sponsors. Generate reports from the database as requested.
    • Electronic document archive: Maintain and migrate electronic archive of Casita Maria's government funding archive into Bloomerang.
    • Correspondence: Generate donor acknowledgement letters and other routine correspondence.
    • Fundraising campaigns: Assist in development and execution of annual appeals and fundraising campaigns.
    • Events: Assist Event Planner with coordination of fundraising events, including the annual gala.
    • Institutional donor cultivation: Maintain schedule of institutional proposal and reporting deadlines; help to prepare periodic reports and proposals as directed.
    • Government contracts: Assist with contracting requirements for public funders, including city and state agencies.
    • Materials preparation: Prepare briefings and follow-up materials for Executive Director and senior Development staff conducting donor and funder cultivation.
    • Board of Directors: Support Executive Director with Board-related activities.
    • Complete other assignments as directed.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience working in a non-profit office supporting fundraising activities or related combination of education and experience.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to interact with staff and funders across multiple levels of seniority, backgrounds, etc.
    • Adept in Bloomerang CRM; experience with donor database management.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills; keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects and complete them with minimal supervision.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.
    • Willing to work weekends and/or evenings occasionally for special events , as needed.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workplace.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Works in an office environment.
    • Frequently sits for long periods of time.
    • Frequently speaks, reads, writes, uses a computer and computer keyboard.
    • May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, and bending.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The compensation range for this in-person position is $50,000 - $55,000. Casita Maria offers its full-time employees a robust benefits package including medical; dental; vision; life insurance; flexible spending account; commuter benefits; 403(b) and pension plan.
