The Economic Justice Circle is a coalition of grassroots organizations committed to creating an economic justice agenda for Pittsburgh and the region with a racial equity lens. The EJC centers the values of transparency, accountability, integrity, and equity.
The EJC is partnering with the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center (PBPC), the state’s leading progressive tax, budget and public policy organization. PBPC does non-partisan research, advocacy and organizing with the goal of creating economic and racial justice in Pennsylvania. PBPC is based in Harrisburg with staff members located across the state. PBPC offers a dynamic environment where research and analysis, advocacy, public education, and organizing are put to work to improve the well-being of low- and middle-income Pennsylvanians.
The Pittsburgh budget and policy analyst / coordinator will work under the direction of the EJC and with the support of the leadership of PBPC to identify and carry out a policy research and analysis agenda focused on analyzing the budgets of Pittsburgh and related entities (authorities, Allegheny County) from the perspective of racial equity and economic justice.
We seek individuals who have a solid mix of strong research skills and interpersonal skills who are deeply committed to the ideals of racial and economic justice. The policy analyst / coordinator will work to do detailed analysis of city and other budgets and their impact on different communities, using traditional tools of budget analysis as well other tools, including drawing on the knowledge of EJC members, interviews, and other strategies. The analyst will also help the EJC coordinate meetings and train members and community partners on budget and policy issues of most import to the Circle.
This is a full-time position based in Pittsburgh, PA. Remote work is possible during COVID-19.
The work schedule can at times be greater than 40 hours per week and includes some evening and weekend meetings and events, as necessary. It is not a strictly 9am-5pm position. Travel is occasionally required around the Pittsburgh region or to state and national conferences related to budget analysis, racial and economic justice.
The Budget and Policy Analyst/ Coordinator is a full-time exempt position. Salary range is $60,000-$80,000 (commensurate with experience) with a generous benefits package including health and dental insurance.
