Prospect Research Coordinator – Development 

The Prospect Research Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and qualifying potential donors with the capacity to make major gifts to the hospital. He/she will generate new leads, recommend gift officer portfolio assignments, contribute to prospect development strategies, and create profiles for key prospects. This work will include proactive data mining of NYP’s prospect pools and prompt fulfillment of data requests from gift officers. Using a broad spectrum of both public and specialized proprietary data sources, the prospect researcher will retrieve, analyze, and evaluate a prospect's financial net worth, capacity to give, charitable interests, and existing/potential connections to the Hospital. He/she will use this information to prepare specialized biographical profiles that highlight insights that can support gift officers' successful efforts to fund the program and endowment needs of NYP. This role will also be tasked with special projects related to NYP’s burgeoning data analytics program.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Fulfill research requests on individual and institutional donors by creating confidential prospect profiles that include information such as career summaries, wealth indicators, giving capacity, etc. for use by senior development staff.
  • Proactively vet NYP’s prospect pools by using multiple software suites to accurately extract, assess, and aggregate data that captures prospect engagement and wealth capacity. Summarize key prospect findings, such as philanthropic interests and relationship to the Hospital, to the best-fit fundraiser for maximum cultivation potential.
  • Develop and operationalize new techniques, strategies, and processes for identifying and qualifying prospective major donors.
  • Enter and update biographical information in CRM and perform other database management and data cleaning tasks to assist in donor information quality control.
  • Train gift officers on prospect research best practices via formal presentations and individualized meetings.
  • Create and maintain guidelines and policies for accurate management of donor and prospect information.
  • Adheres to ethics and confidentiality policies to remain in compliance with industry standards and federal regulations (e.g. HIPAA institutional guidelines and departmental/institutional policies).

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in prospect research, fundraising database management, and/or a directly related field.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Rigorous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Aptitude for working independently.
  • Ability to follow ethical standards and utilize discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
