The Mission


KIPP LA Public Schools is a non-profit organization that operates free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools serving students in South, Southeast, and East Los Angeles. KIPP LA’s mission is to teach the academic skills, foster the intellectual habits, and cultivate the character traits needed for our students to thrive in school, college, and life. KIPP LA currently operates 15 schools and serves approximately 6,500 students. Our team is expanding rapidly; over the next five years, we will more than double the number of students we serve.


The Opportunity


  • The Compliance Coordinator will support KIPP LA school leaders through the charter’s oversight and renewal process. Specifically, they will assist with requests from authorizers, including but not limited to charter submission, renewal and material revisions, school oversight, and other special projects that may arise.
  • Qualified candidate is someone who is sensitive to the demands of diverse stakeholders. They process the diplomacy necessary to keep the needs of our schools as their first priority at all times, while at the same time ensuring we are addressing our external obligations.


The Responsibilities


  • Assist in the development, preparation and document collection for all new and renewal charter petitions
  • Gather local, state, and federal data on achievement, demographics, national trends, etc to aid with grant applications
  • Support school leaders with annual school authorizer oversight visits, including all documents are prepared and ready to go prior to the visit
  • Assist with the creation of educational materials to deepen stakeholders level of understanding of public program requirements
  • Maintain and organize all charter petitions, reports, audits and survey documentation sent to authorizers
  • Maintain systems for changes in reporting requirements, tracking changes in documentation, and content of submissions
  • Create and maintain a master calendar of all authorizer reporting deadlines; Track and monitor process of all authorizer district required reporting
  • Work across departments to ensure that all the teams objectives and goals are met
  • Weekly visits to school sites across South, Southeast, and East Los Angeles
  • Update Public Programs website and other educational items as needed


The Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 2 years full time work experience
  • Solid writing and editing skills
  • Must be analytical and detail oriented
  • Experience in an educational environment is a significant plus
  • Excellent computer skills, experience working with Google platform a plus
