This position serves as a senior member of City Center’s Development team overseeing fundraising efforts focused on current and prospective donors capable of giving $25,000+. He/she will manage the Chairman’s Council, City Center’s premier donor group and direct all facets of the major gifts portfolio including strategy, solicitation, benefit fulfillment, administration, reporting, and prospect and moves management. He/she will also oversee City Center’s planned giving program. This position directly manages the Research Assistant.


Reports to the Vice President of Development


·       Work closely with VP of Development to manage a cohesive major gifts program (Chairman’s Council) that successfully stewards current donors and provides a framework for cultivating prospective donors

·       Effectively manage a personal portfolio of major donors ($25k+) and prospects as well as successfully solicit major gifts; think creatively about how to structure and package asks for specific donors for areas of support

·       Responsible for achieving the budgeted annual revenue target agreed upon in partnership with the VP of Development and the CFO

·       Work closely with VP of Development and the President/CEO on annual and long-term Board giving strategy as well as Board prospecting efforts

·       Work with Database Coordinator to ensure an efficient and cohesive system for identifying and tracking major giving prospects and cultivation and solicitation activities

·       Work with Director of Individual Giving to develop a pipe-line of major giving prospects from the President’s Council and other giving levels

·       Oversee and/or prepare all communication materials required to support the major gifts program including all marketing, solicitation and acknowledgement materials

·       Work with Director of Individual Giving as well as the VP of Programming to create and execute innovative and targeted cultivation events and activities throughout the year

·       Manage planned giving program (Fiorello LaGuardia Society), including marketing and donor communication and solicitation

·       Work with CFO on administrative matters related to planned gifts

·       Oversee the Research Assistant and all research/prospect management efforts

·       Conduct regular staff meetings with direct reports

·       Regularly report progress to VP of Development on all major giving and planned giving related activities

·       Support and represent City Center in Development Department and institutional activities, including special events and performances


Candidate should have 5+ years of front-line, major gifts fundraising experience; an energetic, creative and strategic approach to work; outstanding communication skills; proven ability to engage with a variety of constituents and the ability to motivate and inspire volunteers; experience developing compelling donor materials and events; excellent organizational and delegation skills as well as ability to work collaboratively; and demonstrated ability to bring “best practices” to processes and procedures.
