Description

The Mission of First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights is to be a nurturing and inclusive community, actively connecting faith and life, and empowering our congregation to serve in the world. We are seeking a talented communicator to help spread the word!

In this part time (~20 hours per week) role, the Communications Manager is responsible for social media, web and electronic media/communication, event/ministry promotion, and print communication (exceptions are worship bulletins and production of printed newsletter).  You will use your ability to produce creative and concise communications to support a wide range of ministries.

Primary Responsibilities

  • ·        Web site Maintenance and Oversite

o  Keep website up to date (currently use ACS as our content management system)

o  Create forms for sign ups for events and links for payment for events (use Wordpress for forms and payment)

o  Manage our hosting domain

o  Upload weekly sermons

·        Graphic Design

o  Posters for bulletin boards, community flyers

o  Bulletin covers

o  Brochures

o  Logo design for special projects and different groups/ministries within the church

o  Outdoor banners

·        Print/Email communications Communications

o  Create and send weekly eNews and special email alerts

o  Design and edit monthly newsletter

o  Work with outside printers as well as prepare things for in-house printing

·        Marketing/Advertising

o  Coordinate social media plan

o  Promote and publicize church events/ministries through various media and communication outlets

·        Video/Photo


Required Skills and Experience:

·        Experience with graphic design

·        Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

·        Experience with Mail Chimp or similar email tools

·        Experience with website content management tools

·        Knowledge and experience with social media outlets

·        Self-motivated, reliable, able to work independently and with teams and staff

·        Excellent written and communication skills

·        Familiarity with print and electronic media

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • ·        Experience in not for profit and/or religious marketing and advertising
