Role Description: 

Spark offers rewarding careers for hard-working professionals who want to support students in understanding, experiencing, and pursuing what’s possible for their future. Spark Bay Area seeks a passionate and self-motivated Partnerships Manager to join our collaborative team to develop and facilitate partnerships for local companies and community organizations to host Spark’s middle school career exploration and self-discovery program. In the Fall semester, Spark students visit a different company each week and collaborate with volunteers in short workshops. In the Spring, Spark students work 1:1 with volunteer mentors at partner sites to develop a semester-long career-exploration project. 

The Partnerships Manager builds and sustains these critical partner relationships, collaborating with CSR teams and Spark employee volunteers to ensure our students’ needs are met. They will demonstrate excellent relationship building and communication skills, strong adaptability, a passion for innovative thinking and creative problem-solving, and a willingness to support cross-functional teams as-needed in a highly entrepreneurial culture. 

Preferred candidates will have experience in education, Bay Area public school districts, Corporate Social Responsibility, and a commitment to promoting equity at Spark partner sites. Spark seeks a candidate who is committed to our mission and willing to grow their career with our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Partnership Development

  • Maintain a portfolio of 20-30 company and nonprofit partners to host Spark’s programs
  • Manage a team of Spark Ambassadors (employee leads) across partner sites to communicate with volunteers and promote Spark’s initiatives internally and collect program feedback
  • Develop strategic proposals to secure program funding from partner sites
  • Determine new partner outreach strategy that ensures Spark students have access to a diverse array of workplaces and volunteers
  • Work with Spark’s DEI team to ensure partnerships are aligned with organizational equity goals
  • Coordinate quarterly Ambassador community-building events

Volunteer Management

  • Manage volunteer recruitment and communications to recruit ~20 employee volunteers per Spark Lab session, and ~120 mentors to work with each Spark student in the Spring semester
  • Deliver volunteer training sessions and facilitate volunteer clearances
  • Facilitate mentor interviews and support Spark Program Team with student:mentor matching
  • Coordinate 1:1 volunteer coaching and check ins
  • Manage a Salesforce database to collect, interpret, and implement volunteer data and evaluation feedback

Communications Support

  • Work with Spark Boards and Executive Director to develop materials advertising Spark events and program updates
  • Compose and deliver Spark Bay Area’s quarterly community newsletter
  • Develop community outreach materials and information sessions as-needed

Event Support

  • Support planning and implementation of Advisory Board events 
  • Work with Spark Ambassadors to solicit corporate donations and sponsorships for Spark events
  • Collaborate with Spark’s Program Team to coordinate our year-end student showcase, Share Your Spark

Program Support

  • Work collaboratively with Spark’s Program Director to ensure alignment of student and volunteer goals
  • Contribute to Labs and Mentorship curriculum developments
  • Serve as liaison between volunteer mentors and Program Team communications with students families’/school staff


Position Requirements:

  • 4 year degree from a fully accredited college or university
  • At least 2 years’ experience in program coordination, youth development, volunteer management, or partnership development
  • Strong communicator; this position requires a strong ability to navigate competing priorities to facilitate strong partnerships
  • Work with Canva, MailChimp, Salesforce, G-Suite
  • Collaborate with Spark Program Team, Advisory Board, Executive Board, Bay Area Staff, and National All-Spark Team
  • Must be able to work in the Bay Area

Salary

$65,000 - $65,000

Compensation:

  • Salary: $60-$65k/year
  • Health Benefits: Full health coverage is provided, including medical, dental and vision no more than 30 days after an employee’s first day. Spark covers up to 100 percent of monthly premiums, and a portion of the monthly premiums for dependents. Employee-funded flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care are offered. A life insurance policy providing $50,000 of coverage is also included.
