The Healthy Schools Program Manager is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the Healthy Schools Program in a defined geographic area. Responsibilities include delivery of direct technical assistance to schools and coordination of technical assistance needs with national Alliance staff. The Manager will develop, cultivate, and manage key relationships within target schools, districts and regions. The Manager will provide hands- on guidance and support to key school champion(s) coordinating the implementation of the Healthy Schools initiative in their schools and be accountable for engagement of the schools. The Healthy Schools Program Manager should have a genuine interest and commitment to making kids’ lifestyles healthier.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and understand the school health environment and the needs related to school health in the districts and schools in a specific state or region.
- Implement and manage the onsite delivery of the Healthy Schools Program within an assigned region, which includes supporting schools in completing annual deliverables.
- Recruit districts and schools to enroll in the Healthy Schools Program.
- Deliver workshops, technical assistance and virtual support to enrolled schools and districts to facilitate the implementation of the Healthy Schools Program.
- Work with Healthier Generation team members to yield resources that support the implementation of the Healthy Schools Program.
- Cultivate and develop key relationships within assigned region to promote the Healthy Schools Program and ensure effective collaboration and brokering of local, regional, and/or state resources.
- Promote the Healthy Schools Program within the specific state or region to key school health stakeholders through in person and digital communications strategies, including trainings, stakeholder convenings, coalitions, newsletters, listservs, and other publications.
- Deliver on grant objectives, including reporting on Program progress and results through formal and informal reporting procedures.
- Promote district and school successes through national recognition, success stories and other communication strategies.
- Develop and maintain key relationships with regional funders and leverage resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the state's (or region’s) school health environment and/or successful management and implementation of programs in schools or with youth.
- Effectively delivers training and technical assistance to diverse audiences.
- Ability to assess and identify significant opportunities and potential problems in districts and schools.
- Ability to work with districts and schools to develop feasible solutions to address problems.
- Demonstrates ability to absorb new information rapidly.
- Inquisitive nature and excellent active listening skills.

- Demonstrates an ability to learn and navigate the Healthier Generation website, Microsoft Office Suite and other technology deemed necessary for the position.
- Required frequent travel by car or plane up to 50% of the time, occasional overnight travel.
- Required to have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Able to lift up and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Must be located within the Central Valley region.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Minimum of three years’ work experience in school, public health or youth environment.
- Experience in project management
- Experience in developing and managing relationships with diverse groups/environments and individuals
- Knowledge of the school environment and/or successful management and implementation of programs in schools
- Experience in facilitating effective meetings and expertise in delivering learner-centered training to diverse audiences
