We are looking for a Social Media Manager to join our Communications team at the forefront of innovation at HCZ. We are building a team from the ground up, while at the same time implementing new processes and platforms to tell the amazing story of our work and mission. Our goal: lift the voices of our community and elevate HCZ as a national leader in comprehensive, place-based work. The successful candidate will be a strong storyteller who thrives in a high-hustle, low-ego, team-oriented environment. They should possess a journalist mindset, with an insatiable curiosity and drive to scoop the story. A strong relationship builder is a must as you will be working with stakeholders across the organization to source and shape content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in direct collaboration with the Editorial Director to create and implement a social media strategy and schedule across HCZ’s Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook channels
  • Ensure social media content and tactics ladder up to HCZ’s organizational goals, including national leadership, student recruitment, and culture and community building
  • Identify high-impact opportunities to increase the visibility of HCZ’s work and position the organization as a national leader
  • Play a key role in developing HCZ’s social media voice and optimization for different channels and audiences
  • Draft engaging social media copy that aligns with HCZ’s voice, values, and brand
  • Create captivating visual content — including designing graphics and editing short video — that’s consistent with HCZ’s visual identity
  • Aid in the creation of all digital and print assets for both internal and external usage
  • Interact with audiences and proactively identifies and participates in industry-relevant conversations to increase followers and engagement
  • Monitor audience data and performance analytics to continuously improve social media strategy
  • Monitor social media trends and emerging practices to evaluate and recommend new tactics and platforms
  • Identify opportunities to run paid posts to maximize impact
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • A commitment to the mission and values of HCZ
  • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Deep commitment to understanding and addressing the challenges facing underserved communities of color
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience creating and implementing social media content strategies for established brands or nonprofits
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Proficiency in design and video editing platforms such as: Adobe Premiere Pro, Rush, or Elements; Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; and Canva
  • Experience building strong relationships and trust with stakeholders
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities at once
