Full Time Contract
Details: Salary is paid in local currency
Full time teacher of English and a few hours of history/geography in the high school. This involves grammar/language and literature in the upper grades. The post is available immediately.
The school is a rigorously academic, independent bi-lingual (Fr/Eng) secondary school in Dakar. Most of the students are Senegalese. Students graduate with the International Baccalaureate (IB) bilingual diploma and obtain places in universities overseas. Students do social service work in the community outside the school.
Free accommodation in small furnished apartments is provided within the school.
Ideal candidates will possess an excellent work ethic; strong communication and organizational skills; patience and a good sense of humour; strong classroom management skills; some experience teaching diverse students, and the ability to adapt to life in Dakar. Beginning teachers are welcome to apply.
Successful candidates will be creative, models of tolerance and openness, responsive to new ideas and practices.
Familiarity with the developing world would be an advantage but is not essential. We are looking for candidates able to commit to at least two years from September 2018.
Some knowledge of French would be helpful for living in Dakar, but it is not an essential requirement.
Candidates with large, visible tattoos or rings pierced into the nose, tongue, lips, chin, etc and men with ear rings are not able to be employed in this school community so please do not apply.
