$19-21/hour for 20-22 hours a week

Position Overview:

We are seeking a part-time Recruitment Assistant to join the Avodah national team and provide general support to the Recruitment Director and our national recruitment work. The Recruitment Assistant will engage in both communications and administrative work to help our recruitment team spread the word about our programs (primarily, the Jewish Service Corps) and recruit high-quality candidates. This work will include both specific project assignments as well as day-to-day assistance as needed. 

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Creating compelling communication campaigns and conducting substantial outreach through email and social media to both prospective applicants and recruitment contacts;
  • Building and revising databases of academic, institutional, and organizational contacts;
  • Speaking with applicants in both a 1:1 and small-group settings;
  • Organizing and analyzing data around recruitment tactics and demographics;
  • Maintaining records of contacts and communications in our databases and on Salesforce; 
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant recruitment contacts both within and outside of the Jewish community; and
  • Working closely with the Recruitment Director to provide both general administrative support and to engage in strategic thought-partnership around recruitment improvements and recommendations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Fully participate in all staff gatherings, meetings, and retreats; 
  • Conduct self with the utmost professionalism; and 
  • Serve as an excellent ambassador to Avodah.

About you:

  • You are extremely organized and detail-oriented;
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and are able to connect with and build relationships with a wide range of people;
  • You have the ability to prioritize, multitask, and proactively communicate; and 
  • You have the cultural competence to help us build recruitment cohorts that are representative of the full diversity of the Jewish community, including (but not limited to) BIPOC, queer and/or trans participants, and participants with disabilities.

Other qualifications:

  • Proficient in Google Documents and Excel, and a quick learner of technology including Asana and Salesforce;
  • Commitment to continuous learning and growth in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism, and social justice;
  • Commitment to listening and working with humility and respect, and to being an active part of a work culture that supports space and voice for all diverse perspectives;
  • Experience in recruitment and/or communications a plus; and
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, college campus landscape, and/or social justice landscape a plus.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

The position can be done remotely and staff will be provided with a computer. There are times when the work is fast-paced; this position entails working with deadlines and prioritizing different responsibilities. The ability to handle stressful situations with multiple projects underway at the same time, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively, are essential.
