Life Skills Trainer Position Details

Life Skills Trainers (called Independent Living Skills, or ILS, Trainers) provide one-on-one daily living training to individuals with disabilities as they work towards their personal goals and overall independence. Training can range from teaching cooking skills to a young adult who lives with their parents, to providing supervision and conflict resolution between roommates, to helping a senior manage their medication.


This is a part-time, 20-25 hours per week position, $16-$19/hr. Shifts range between 8:00am-8:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, plus a staff meeting from 8:30am-11:00am every other Tuesday. Multiple locations throughout Marin. There is a possibility that this could turn into full-time work. This could be an ideal position for a college student.

Duties

·        Train clients around their goals, such as transportation training, domestic skills, socialization, financial skills, personal health and hygiene

·        Keep detailed progress notes after each session and update the client's file on the computer

·        Complete and submit all forms on time, including monthly and annual reports

·        Attend case conferences with clients, families and other agencies they work with if necessary

·        Attend staff meetings to discuss current cases and brainstorm creative solutions to challenges

Qualifications

·        Basic computer literacy, specifically with Gmail and Microsoft Office

·        Excellent verbal and written skills

·        Valid California driver's license with proof of insurance required, background check will be conducted
