Sunnyside Community Services, an innovative community-based, social service organization in Western Queens is seeking a High School After-School Director for its Youth Futures program located at the Queens Technical High School.

Sunnyside Community Service’s offers family centered programming to community members throughout Queens. Our youth development continuum spans Pre-K to College, and services are offered to over 2,500 young people across seven campuses.

 

 

Reporting to the Deputy Director of High School Programming, the Director of High School After-School Enrichment Programming will be responsible for the program design and implementation of a school-based afterschool program for grades 9 and 10.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·       Design youth development programming that is directly aligned with organizational and funders expectations and outcomes.

·       Hire and train part-time staff that will provide academic instructional support in core subjects (Math, English, Social Studies, Science) and enrichment support in the Arts, Technology, Leadership and Health and Wellness.

·       Develop needs assessment tool(s) to support with design of youth-informed, student-centered programming.

·       Organize strategies for participant outreach and retention, including creating marketing materials, registration forms, and conduct information sessions about Youth Futures afterschool program offerings.

·       Regularly collect and prepare Salesforce data for outcomes-based reporting to Deputy Director and After-School team.

·       Prepare for and participate in weekly supervision meetings and team meetings with Deputy Director After-School Team.

·       Participate in cross-collaboration workshops and programs with the Youth Futures Program team: College Readiness, Career Readiness, and Community Schools Program Directors.

·       Collaborate with external partnerships to design relevant workshops for participants.

·       Develop needs assessment tool(s) to support with design of youth-informed, student-centered programming.

·       Collaborate with Queens Technical school staff to discuss student progress and capacity-building of students.

·       Manage relationships in an on-going manner throughout the year with various stakeholders: parents, community members, school staff, and Youth Futures team

·       Prepare for program funder meetings and site visits.

·       Manage program spending, ensuring compliance with funder and agency requirements.

·       Able to provide strengths-based short-term crisis intervention support to youth participants as needed.

·       Attend professional development workshops and organizational meetings as needed or expected.

·       Other relevant duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelors degree in a relevant field preferred. Associates degree with extensive experience a minimum.

·       At least 2 years’ experience designing and delivering student-centered youth development programming in a K-12 setting. Experience working in an after-school environment desired.

·       At least 2 years’ experience managing part-time and/or full-time staff or other relevant teams.

·       Ability to approach work from an outcomes-based lens with a focus on incremental progress.

·       Highly resourceful, presenting clear and strategic ideas for program development

·       Proven track record of building excellent rapport with staff and students.

·       Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and complete all tasks and work with a sense of urgency while not compromising accuracy and precision.

·       Comfortable working independently while also being part of a growing, collaborative team.

·       Proficient in using MS Office Suite and other databases.
