Position Summary: The College Coordinator is responsible for structuring and implementing specific education development programming within GEMS. The College Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the program, planning related events and activities, and providing education/vocation-related case management.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: This statement of duties is for purpose of identifying this position but it is not limited to:

  • Structure and implement college readiness programming for GEMS members.
  • Assist youth to acquire positive educational habits and develop skills to navigate their educational experience.
  • Identify GEMS member's college interests through exposure to different academic departments, potential career outcomes and educational pathways.
  • Identify and build relationships with appropriate college programs, services, and funding opportunities.
  • Support with the day-to-day responsibilities and staffing of the drop-in center.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Eligible to work in US
  • At least 5-7 years of work with youth, including increasing responsibilities
  • At least 5-7 years of experience supervising and managing staff and interns at a social service or social justice nonprofit agency
  • At least 3 years of experience with coalition-building and policy advocacy
  • Strong understanding of CSEC and VSL
  • Knowledge, background and an investment in women’s right advocacy, cultural consciousness and competency
  • Extensive knowledge of issues related to trafficking and gender-based violence, comprehensive programming, court systems (criminal and family court)
  • Knowledge of the legal system and ability to navigate bureaucracies
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and social service databases
  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills and leadership qualities. Some experience with community based presentations, media, and public relations preferred
  • Experience working with multiple staff, volunteers, and program responsibilities
  • Strong administrative and organization skills
  • Ability to work flexible hour including some evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple time –sensitive tasks
