Our programs focus on empowering students by providing them with mindfulness skills and tools that lead to improved self-awareness, impulse control, confidence and resiliency. Key Mindsets

The Development Associate will have a passion for MLP’s mission and be able to communicate to our current and potential stakeholders about our organization and the impacts of our services while highlighting opportunities for partnership. The individual in this role will support the Director of Development and Marketing and the Executive Director through the development of long and short term financial organizational stability by engaging with funders, supporting events, and prospect research to acquire funders who are aligned with our mission. The individual in this role will be detail oriented, enjoy writing, appreciate diversity, work well in teams and closely align with and represent MLP’s mission, vision and values.


Position Description

The Development Associate will be a skilled communicator who generates financial resources for Mindful Life Project by applying for grants, writing fundraising letters, planning events, and cultivating strong relationships with both existing and potential individual donors, corporations, and foundations. This position will be supervised by the Director of Development and Marketing and will work closely with the Executive Director.


Job Summary

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Development and Marketing, support with the overall development outreach plan that will outline funding priorities and opportunities and tactics based on sound practices and reasoning. Follow the strategy for measuring outcomes to evaluate and adapt the plan for future years.
  • Develop prospect research and assess alignment with potential funders using metrics created.
  • Use of data dashboard and maintenance of donor database.
  • Design and implement external communications strategies.
  • Cultivating individual donors through email, phone follow-ups, and in-person conversations. Development
  • As the primary support staff for Mindful Life’s Development Department, perform administrative, logistic, and communication functions for fundraising, marketing, and community relations activities.
  • Throughout the year prepare, write, and submit letters of inquiry, grant proposals, interim progress reports, and final reports for foundations, individual donors, and corporate sponsors.
  • Support the activities of the Director of Development and Marketing
  • Identify opportunities for involvement in community activities and events, and for introducing new people to the agency.
  • Facilitate and maintain channels of communications with co-workers, donors, foundations, affiliates, vendors, and all other business contacts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of donor, client, and business operation information
  • Assist the Director of Development and Marketing in coordinating fundraising events.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or relevant experience in marketing Experience – Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in development and engagement of partnerships for funding purposes. Experience writing grants and proposals for the purpose of receiving funds and/or partnerships, materials, or support for events. Passion for MLP’s mission with an approach that is flexible, adaptable and proactive.


Skills:

Ability to eloquently articulate MLP’s mission and programs, and show passion for the mission of MLP.

Creative, personable, and detail-oriented individuals.

Superior communications skills, both verbal and written.

Possessing strong organizational and information management skills as well as the ability to multitask.

Able to present on MLP’s programs to new and existing stakeholders with the ability to make financial asks

Knowledge of data dashboards (Salesforce/Cloud Creations preferred).

Ability to strategically manage competing priorities in line with objectives and key results.

Demonstrated success in building strong relationships among teams; working collaboratively and thoughtfully.

Ability to write and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while keeping a keen eye on detail and accuracy.
