Mindful Life Project (MLP) is an educational non-profit organization headquartered in Richmond, CA whose mission is to empower underserved children through mindfulness and other transformative skills to gain self-awareness, confidence, self-regulation and resilience, leading to lifelong success. MLP envisions schools where all students are able to participate and excel both socially and academically. Our programs focus on empowering students by providing them with mindfulness skills and tools that lead to improved self-awareness, impulse control, confidence and resiliency. We believe that every student has the innate ability to be a successful member of the school and the community. By providing students with mindfulness skills that improve social-emotional skills, our partner schools experience improved school climates and classroom learning environments.
The Development Associate will have a passion for MLP’s mission and be able to communicate to our current and potential stakeholders about our organization and the impacts of our services while highlighting opportunities for partnership. The individual in this role will support the Director of Development and Marketing and the Executive Director through the development of long and short term financial organizational stability by engaging with funders, supporting events, and prospect research to acquire funders who are aligned with our mission. The individual in this role will be detail oriented, enjoy writing, appreciate diversity, work well in teams and closely align with and represent MLP’s mission, vision and values.
The Development Associate will be a skilled communicator who generates financial resources for Mindful Life Project by applying for grants, writing fundraising letters, planning events, and cultivating strong relationships with both existing and potential individual donors, corporations, and foundations. This position will be supervised by the Director of Development and Marketing and will work closely with the Executive Director.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or relevant experience in marketing Experience – Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in development and engagement of partnerships for funding purposes. Experience writing grants and proposals for the purpose of receiving funds and/or partnerships, materials, or support for events. Passion for MLP’s mission with an approach that is flexible, adaptable and proactive.
Ability to eloquently articulate MLP’s mission and programs, and show passion for the mission of MLP.
Creative, personable, and detail-oriented individuals.
Superior communications skills, both verbal and written.
Possessing strong organizational and information management skills as well as the ability to multitask.
Able to present on MLP’s programs to new and existing stakeholders with the ability to make financial asks
Knowledge of data dashboards (Salesforce/Cloud Creations preferred).
Ability to strategically manage competing priorities in line with objectives and key results.
Demonstrated success in building strong relationships among teams; working collaboratively and thoughtfully.
Ability to write and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while keeping a keen eye on detail and accuracy.
