Consulting Partner

TNTP seeks a two full-time Partners to join the Consulting Division.

One position will work on projects in the following states in the Northeast region: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington D.C. It is required that this role be based from a home office anywhere in the Northeast region.

The second position can be based in any of TNTP’s regions. This role can be based in a home office anywhere in the United States.  

Frequent travel of about 40% is required.

Staff in TNTP's Consulting Division work alongside teachers, school leaders, districts, and states to help them achieve their goals for students. We work to help educators, schools, and school systems expand access to opportunity for students. Partners on the Consulting team focus on supporting systems to provide equitable, high-quality opportunities to students by growing our talent and academics consulting work.

What You’ll Do

The Partner is a critical leader at TNTP - driving the development of services, managing a portfolio of client engagements or contracts within our Consulting team, and serving as a face of the organization to our district partners and external stakeholders. The Partner will advance innovative and nuanced solutions to TNTP’s clients’ biggest challenges and ensure engagements meet client needs and achieve ambitious goals.

The Partner’s primary job responsibilities include:

  • Driving the development of services including but not limited to:
  • Leading and supporting business development by successfully leading sales efforts with new and existing partners that align to strategic priorities;
  • Leveraging external networks across the state and building relationships and identifying options for new sources of funding for TNTP at the local and national level; and
  • Developing and managing budgets, including financial forecasting and maximizing revenue.
  • Managing a portfolio of contracts including but not limited to:  
  • Setting and executing a vision and strategy for how TNTP will meet and exceed its goals across contracts and big picture across the work of a state or subset of the region;
  • Effectively managing diverse teams and building inclusive team culture—utilizing excellent management skills to develop talent to achieve ambitious goals; and
  • Building and managing high-level client relationships to ensure client investment in our ongoing partnerships—authentically collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Providing organizational leadership including but not limited to:
  • Being the internal and external face of our organization; and
  • Managing, motivating, and influencing a strong network of external stakeholders towards a clear vision in support of our business development and impact goals.

We expect this Partner to:  

  • Build relationships. You’ll regularly partner with district stakeholders. You have an ability to connect and build relationships with diverse communities. Bilingual abilities are a plus.  
  • Leverage senior leadership experience in academic, consulting and school settings. You draw from previous experience leading complex organizational change efforts, including the ability to develop a clear vision and purposeful strategy to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Translate strategy into effective partnerships. You provide leadership, strategic direction, decision making, and client and team management necessary to ensure the success of TNTP’s work with a portfolio of district and charter partners utilizing long-term planning and quality controls to ensure contract goals are met and ongoing work is stable and sustainable. 
  • Hire, develop, manage, and retain talent. One of your greatest responsibilities will be to hire and ensure staff working on projects in your portfolio have an inclusive and supportive work environment that reflects TNTP’s unique culture and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Model cross-cultural agility.  Authentic self-reflection, self- awareness, and high emotional intelligence are central to who you are, and you utilize these skills to shape a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, that influences how you think about your work.  You have an adept cultural understanding of yourself and use your understanding of yourself and others to build trusting relationships with direct reports, colleagues, and clients.  
  • Lead with an asset-based and equity-centered approach.  You have a strong understanding and prior experience with equity-based, asset-oriented, and culturally responsive practices, and use them as foundational lenses of your leadership.  

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the education landscape and business development opportunities for supporting students and districts in your region
  • Senior level experience working in or with leadership at urban school districts or CMOs and leading complex organizational change efforts, including the ability to develop a clear vision and purposeful strategy to achieve ambitious goals (required)
  • Familiarity with Common Core (or college ready) State Standards, supporting English Language Learners, and/or instructional data and assessments (preferred)
  • Excellent project management skills and an ability to work efficiently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, including financial forecasting and maximizing revenue
