Safe Horizon is the nation's largest victims' assistance organization. Safe Horizon's Criminal and Supreme Court Programs are community partners in New York City's Family Justice Centers, a collaborative project with the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence, community based organizations, the District Attorney's Office, New York City Police Department, Criminal/Family/Supreme Courts, and other agencies in order to provide comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their families. Safe Horizon staff provides information and referrals, assistance navigating the legal system, court orientation and advocacy with the District Attorney's Office as well as Judges, the Police Department, and other organizations on behalf of the client.


Essential Job Functions:

The Senior Case Manager will work with clients who access the Bronx Criminal Court and address their immediate needs. The Senior Case Manager responsibilities may include some or all of the following:


  • Conducts client centered safety assessment and risk management planning using the Jackie Campbell Danger Assessment Tool;
  • Provides crisis intervention, criminal justice and housing advocacy and case management services to victims of crime and abuse;
  • Collaborates alongside the Department of Probation (DOP) to provide assistance to victims of domestic violence identified through the PACT program at a minimum of two days a week at the DOP’s office and participates in case discussions of high risk and challenging cases;
  • Provides assistance to victims in the Domestic Violence Court Part and the Domestic Violence Complaint Room and conducts safety assessments for victims of domestic violence;
  • Advocates for clients for public entitlements with systems and other agencies, where necessary, such as obtaining orders of protection, advocating for court ordered Restitution, help with hospital/medical related needs; Office of Victims Services compensation, New York City Housing Authority, and relocation assistance;
  • Provides information and referral for clients for services such as shelters, mental health treatment, public assistance and other entitlements;
  • Provides emergency practical assistance for clients including transportation and food vouchers,
  • Participates in staff meetings, community meetings, and relevant trainings and seminars to enhance professional development;
  • Performs data entry into a computerized record keeping system and maintains thorough and accurate case records and statistics;
  • Develops strong collaborative relationships with criminal justice partners, including the Bronx District Attorney’s Office personnel, the New York Police Department, and the Department of Probation;
  • Attend collaborative meetings with court partners, including Bronx District Attorney’s Office personnel, Department of Probation and the Bronx Borough President’s Office;
  • Works collaboratively with other Safe Horizon programs and FJC partners to facilitate linkages for clients;
  • Coordinate and manage client flow and information;
  • Various other duties to be determined by supervisor.



Required skills: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.



  • Candidates should have 2-3 years’ of work experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or other crime victims
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required



  • FT Full Time
  • Hours: Monday – Friday 9am-5pm, 35 hours/week
