Profugo is a grassroots non-profit organization involved in International Development. Profugo’s goal is to provide access to the tools that enable individuals to build a better quality of life. We accomplish our goal through what we call our Center of Development. The Center of Development is a three pronged approach to community development that encompasses Health & Wellness, Human Development, and Social Capital.
We are currently recruiting for our English Language Teaching Fellowship program. Candidates should be certified to Teach English as a Second Language with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience. Fellows would commit 12 months to working in Prashanthagiri Village in Wayanad, India. This is a great opportunity for young professionals to get hands-on experience working in International Development.
Your responsibilities would include 1) Curriculum Development, 2) Conducting English classes, camps, and immersion programs for students of various ages and demographics, 3) Developing opportunities for local English teachers to grow their teaching skills, 4) Networking with outside organizations to develop the English Outreach program, 5) Supporting Profugo's Youth programs, 6) Supporting local staff and field volunteers with other program areas as needed, and 7) Working on communications projects as assigned by the US HQ.
Projects should be conducted in a way that engages and empowers the community. You will be responsible for collaborating with community members, Profugo Team Members, and local experts to organize and implement your responsibilities. You will report to the COD Director and periodically to the US HQ.
