Girls Who Code is seeking a full-time Manager of Teacher Recruitment to grow our network of educators bringing the GWC mission to the classroom. This person will be responsible for developing strategic plans to find quality instructors for all our programs, reflective of our diverse community of students. This role will oversee all hiring of our Summer Immersion and Campus Program staff.

The Manager of Teacher Recruitment will report to the Director of People & Culture and work in collaboration with the Programs and People & Culture teams to ensure we find high-quality, dedicated computer science teachers aligned with GWC’s values to continue to grow our community of teachers who code. The person in this role will hire and manage seasonal staff.

The position affords great opportunity to have a tangible impact on students and teachers and help close the gender gap in the technology sector.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop an innovative and scalable strategic plan to hire 250+ seasonal summer staff, reflective of our diverse student community
  • Identify and pursue high-potential opportunities for increasing the GWC educator pipeline, including speaking engagements, networking events, and online promotion
  • Work in collaboration with our Community & Partner Engagement teams to build and maintain relationships with organizations that support the GWC instructor pipeline
  • Collaborate with the Education team to develop interviewing methods, format, and metrics to effectively assess and measure instructors’ potential and alignment with Girls Who Code’s educational approach
  • Oversee part-time staff in implementation of recruitment and interview processes
  • Manage communications with candidates, acting as the 'face of the organization' and ensuring a superior on boarding experience
  • Track and report key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity
  • Maintain a deep understanding of qualities that will make instructors successful in our programs


  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or related area
  • Deep knowledge of computer science education space and a commitment to Girls Who Code’s mission
  • 4+ years experience planning and managing large-scale recruitment initiatives online and in person to build a robust talent pipeline 
  • Strong working knowledge of industry and geographically competitive landscape in order to drive and inform recruitment strategies in relevant markets
  • Aptitude for strategic development with an emphasis on creating a high-quality yet scalable hiring processes
  • Experience thinking like a brand ambassador to execute and support a competitive recruitment campaign that includes email campaigns, information sessions/panels, networking with professors and student organizations, to ensure strong campus presence in relevant markets
  • Ability to learn and communicate the Girls Who Code mission and culture in an authentic and compelling way
  • Exceptional project management skills, including setting, communicating, and maintaining timelines and priorities on mission-critical, deadline-driven project
  • Knowledge of computer science education space
  • Excellent people skills with an ability to balance priorities, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external partners
  • Strong leadership abilities and willingness to pitch-in, problem solve, and identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Flexibility & ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing requirements
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, maturity and confidence
