Status: Full-time Exempt

The Job

The Opportunity Network (OppNet) seeks a high-performing, mission-oriented individual to join its collaborative OppNet Fellows program team. The Internships and Career Success Assistant will report to the Program Manager, Career Success and work collaboratively with the OppNet Fellows team to manage existing and generate new employer and enrichment partner relationships. The person will also assist the team with placing both high school and college Fellows in summer internship and enrichment opportunities, and develop and deliver innovative and culturally competent career readiness programming.

The Person

Responsibilities


Employer & Enrichment Partner Outreach - (35%)

● Work with the Program Manager of Career Success to identify and secure new high school and college and

internship and enrichment partners

● Build, track, and maintain pipeline of college and high school internship and enrichment partners

● Manage a caseload of existing and new employer and enrichment partner relationships

● Assess employer and enrichment partner needs and work with the Internships & Career Success team to find

“best fit” student Fellows for summer and academic year opportunities

● Conduct in-person and virtual check ins with employer partners over the summer to track student progress

● Enhance and facilitate the existing employer training workshops

● Collect intern evaluation survey data from employer partners


Internships and Enrichment Placement - (35%)

● Facilitate best fit placement of high school Fellows into summer opportunities, including student outreach,

coaching, and liaising between partners and Fellows

● Collaborate with the internships and Career Success team to review data from high school Fellows to begin

targeting Fellows for potential summer opportunities

● Assist high school students with enrichment and internship applications, includes reviewing application essays,

materials and ensuring Fellows meet application deadlines

● Track student applications and outcomes in Salesforce database on a consistent basis

● Manage communication process with Fellows to ensure they are effectively moving through the application

process and deadlines

● Review college and high school Fellow resumes and manage the resume submission process 

● Conduct individual check ins with college students during winter break to provide guidance regarding future

career plans and prospective internships

● Manage intern check in process via phone, email and in-person during the summer


Program Management – (15%)

● Facilitate culturally competent career readiness programming for high school and college Fellows

● Become proficient in existing outcomes measurement tools, including surveys, rubrics, and OppNet’s proprietary

Career Fluency® Competency Model

● Collaborate with the OppNet Fellows program team to design and deliver high quality and high impact career

development events for Fellows and partners

● Generate quarterly dashboards and reports to show progress and demonstrate outcomes


Overall Program Assistance - (15%)

● Participate in Career Fluency facilitation training

● Assist with facilitation for annual intensives and special events as needed, e.g. summer institute, college

application boot camp, and college transition boot camp, speed networking, career fluency panels,

● Lead recruitment visits/information sessions at area high schools and interview prospective Fellows


Qualifications

● B.A. from a U.S. accredited college/university;

● Two to three years of youth development and/or career development experience;

● Availability and willingness to work select evenings and some weekends;

● Demonstrated ability to connect with high school and college-level students from historically underserved and

underrepresented communities: Can help facilitate interactive workshops in rigorous but dynamic fashion;

understands how to be both nurturing and demanding; appreciates boundaries, but not afraid to push or

challenge;

● Demonstrated skill set in project management, including:

o ability to keep a project moving toward successful completion

o awareness of budget parameters

o ability to set and meet deadlines

o understands how metrics and competencies are connected to various projects

o effective cross-departmental communication

o detail oriented

o takes initiative

o can operate self-sufficiently and collaborative as part of a team

o outstanding organizational skills

o creative and critical problem-solving skills

● Superb written and oral communication skills;

● Previous experience in career development with college and high school students;

● Relationship management skills - specifically with employer partners; and

● Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for OppNet’s values and mission
