Reports to: Assistant Director of Communications and Content

Position Objective: With the complex challenges to hunger that the Covid-19 pandemic has heightened, you would play an active role in developing, implementing, and fulfilling successful digital communications campaigns and service promotion to support MA communities. This would include our new brand rollout which launched in September 2020, vibrant new website and this year’s Virtual Walk for Hunger. The Graphic Designer will work in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Communications and Content to develop and execute external visuals and promotions including social media platforms, print, digital, and public relations channels[1] [2] .

Primary Responsibilities

●    Create content about Project Bread’s anti-hunger programs and impact, including for use in social media, print, digital advertising, website, and email communications

●     Expand Project Bread’s branded properties, including The Walk for Hunger

●    Use digital illustration, photo editing software and layout software to create designs to help deliver a compelling message.

●    Create interactive, digital visuals to engage and educate current and prospective donors, and previous and future Walk for Hunger participation

●    Identify opportunities—and develop materials with program teams—to promote and publicize organizational initiatives, activities, reports, and impact.

●    Partner with colleagues in communication, development, and program teams to develop and manage content creation from the briefing stage to being published. Including incorporating feedback or changes into final designs.

●     Conceptualize and execute creative solutions for printed and digital communications materials, campaigns, paid advertising, projects, and initiatives

●    Present designs concepts to Assistant Director of Communications and Content, VP of Communications and Development and applicable colleagues

●    Ensure projects are high quality and represent Project Bread’s branding/mission’s vision direction



Secondary Responsibilities:

●    Take part in Project Bread activities related to the Walk for Hunger including working the weekend of the Walk for Hunger and supporting the fundraising event

●    Participate and represent Project Bread in organization-wide events and meetings as assigned

Previous Experience/Attributes

●    Team player. Identifies independent and collaborative work to support deadlines and project goals

●    Experienced in graphic design, both print and digital. Creative and innovative, willing to try new approaches to solving old problems.

●    Preference (though not required) to candidates bilingual in any of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin/Cantonese, Haitian Creole or Vietnamese, Arabic

●    Excellent communication style; ability to communicate design choices with clearly

●    Intentional time management, multitasking and analytical skills

●    Precise editing and final editing skills

●    Strategic eye for detail


 

Requirements

●    Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field; completed technical training in graphic design to meet foundational requirements, license/certification/registrations [3] 

●    Mastery of graphic design software (Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign and other graphic design software)[4]  Video editing a plus.

●    Solid and growing knowledge of design and visual principles

●    Compelling portfolio that demonstrates creative intent and originality
