The Mast Cell Disease Society, Inc. (TMS) is seeking a highly qualified Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

Leadership: Serves as the primary representative for organizational activities. Inspires confidence in foundation’s mission and activities. Works closely with the Board of Directors to implement the strategic plan. Reports on Society's successes and challenges to the Board of Directors.

Strategic Operations: Responsible for the overall operations of TMS. Manages activities of the organization, including, but not limited to, developing and monitoring annual budget, maintaining development records, and overseeing and implementing short- and long-term planning, all in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

Fundraising: Develops and maintains relationships with donors and corporations. Oversees fundraising activities. Identify new grant opportunities and coordination application process. 

Relationship Building: Represent TMS and in coordination with the board, will strengthen and grow relationships with donors, researchers and others in the rare disease community. 

Advocacy and Awareness: Serves as TMS spokesperson. Increases awareness of Mast Cell Diseases. Communicates with health professionals, legislators and their staffs. Builds relationships with other advocacy groups.

Marketing and Communications: Develop a communication strategy across all platforms including web and social media to further ensure TMS remains a well-respected, primary source of information on mast cell diseases.

Administrative: Supports Board of Directors and committees. Ensures ethical and best practices in all TMS activities. 

Conference Planning: TMS is holding a virtual conference in 2021 for the first time. The Ed will play a critical role in organizing this event.

 Expands interest in TMS's efforts in the medical and scientific communities, build relationships with research, diagnostic and pharmaceutical sectors. Organizes research meetings and regularly shares research related news in a family-friendly manner with the TMS community.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must demonstrate leadership, operational and management skills along with a record of working independently. Additional qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree Preferred

Experience: 5 to 10 years’ leadership experience in non-profit development and management.

Independence: Ability to work proactively and without direct supervision.

Adaptability: Desire to work within a culture that is fluid. Motivated to learn, explore and research areas of need that may fall outside past experience or expertise.

Process-driven: Capacity to build infrastructure, formalize informal processes, organize and manage projects from start to finish, and identify process details and gaps.

Communicative: Strong written and oral communication skills. The ability to communicate with all constituents including, staff, board, volunteers, physicians, investigators and donors with the ability to inspire action and support.

Detail-oriented: Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a critical degree of accuracy regarding project deliverables.

Project management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong follow-up skills and seeing projects through to completion.

Diligent financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting

Previous fundraising experience should include a history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.

Interest in an organization related to rare diseases.

U.S.- Based, Travel Required

The Executive Director will work from their current location. Re-location is not required.
