SUPERVISORY 

RESPONSIBILITY:              

PRIMARY PURPOSE:         

Provide overall direction and support to The Academy’s operations with specific attention to the areas of college counseling and alumni engagement; serve as the primary personnel for overseeing and maintaining connections with graduates of The Neighborhood Academy. As a core primary purpose, all job positions are to maintain the mission and vision of The Academy.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

1.      Support and work towards a comprehensive college counseling program, to include (but not limited to) providing information, guidance and assistance related to college visits, admissions requirements, scholarships, financial aid, course selection and transitioning.

2.      Support collaborate and lead college testing prep courses and required College Board admissions testing.

3.      Support The Neighborhood Academy and students by ensuring that transcripts and other required documents that support college admissions are implemented effectively and efficiently.

4.      Implement and execute a college driven communication plan that supports graduates progress through their college years. This would include academic road mapping, financial check ins, and financial aid conversations.

5.      Communicate with graduates at least three times a year regarding their college aspirations and progress.

6.      Maintain an up to date database of all alumni information.

7.      Compile and disseminate information to TNA students and graduates regarding financial scholarships and other financial resources that will assist students in affording their higher education.

8.      Provide students with resources that will assist them in securing meaningful workforce development experiences such as internships and part-time jobs.

9.      Support Director of Admissions and College Counseling in hosting three alumni events per academic school year.

10.   Support Director of Admissions and College Counseling in developing and implementing parent engagement programming centered on college readiness topics.

11.   Participate in professional development opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

·        Energy and love for working with students.

·        Ability to manage budgets and lead personnel – specifically teachers.

·        Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.

·        Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

·        Effective, compassionate, and empathetic advisor and counselor. 

·        Skilled in conflict management. 

·        Excellent skills in written, verbal and oral communications.
