The Opportunity.
The South Coast Seasonal Steward assists with the care of the fields, trails, and other natural and cultural features of The Trustees’ South Coast properties. The South Coast Management Unit contains 10 diverse and varied properties on over 1000 acres, that are all open to the public. These sites include trails, lawns, hayfields, woodlands, historic structures and diverse ecological habitats. A successful candidate will be passionate about the outdoors, friendly with the public, demonstrate a focus on safety and attention to detail, and be eager to work hard and learn new skills. They will be comfortable working independently or as part of a team. This position is 32 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday, May 18th-September 7th.
In This Role You Will:
Property Stewardship
- Trail maintenance
- Landscaping-including lawns, fields, stone walls and shrubs
- Structures maintenance – including painting and light carpentry
- Removing trash/litter
- Maintain parking areas
- Greeting visitors on the properties and answering questions
- Working with volunteers/groups

Level of Language Proficiency
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school degree or equivalent
- Experience using and basic maintenance of lawn mowers and string trimmers, or willingness to learn
- Ability to follow safety standards and techniques and to use appropriate safety equipment.
- A good attitude, willingness to be flexible, attention to detail, and a commitment to achieving the goals of the Trustees
- A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy, preferable
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the job e.g. regularly lifting 50 lbs., hiking several miles, and working in all weather conditions and environments that may include thorns, poison ivy and biting insects.

- A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check
- A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy, preferred
